A Good Name is a Terrible Thing to Drag

Vis a vis lambert’s post re Alberto’s Wet Earth Name Trauma I offer up footage that is the proof behind President Bush’s description of poor Alberto’s plight…the video is a bit pixilated, but you…can…just…make…it…out—yes! We can see it! It’s Alberto Gonzales’ good name, being dragged through the mud, holding on for dear life. Hang in there, Alberto’s good name! You show them mud draggers what you’re made of!

I definitely saw it even through the mud
Brilliant catch, MJS.
I was startled at first, because it does look a lot bulkier than you’d expect just a name to be, then I quickly realized that was all the sordid baggage he’s accumulated around his name, starting way back in those Texas days when he didn’t bother to read the entire file before recommending to Bush on who should get clemency or who should go ahead and be put to death, and of course there’s Guantanamo and Abu Grhaib, and could we please START mentioning these two items in the same breath from now on.
Also I’ve heard that bad karma is much bulkier than good karma. Then again, it’s always a shame when a name gets dragged through the mud, but since it had to happen, why don’t Bush and Gonzales realize how lucky they are that there’s still so much mud left all around in New Orleans?

I mean, we could take turns, naturally. I could mud-drag his name for a time in the afternoon—perhaps our fellows further east of these parts could take the morning shifts?
