... and BTD does.
Man, would I like to be wrong on this, too. Past performance not being a guarantee of future results...

Why does he keep foolishly believing Obama will change?
Isn't he the one that constantly says, "Pols are pols?" Obama only cares about becoming president. Nothing else. Honestly, what more does Obama need to do to convince him? Now that's Obama's an absolute lock to win the presidency, he gives even less of a fuck of pretending this election was anything more than a chance for others to worship him and give him the most powerful office in the world. Not only will he not do anything positive to help the economy, he'll probably make it worse since he'll feel even more emboldened by the collapse of the economy (Think: "Where are the voters going to go?" and then some).
The more this economy tanks the more furious I get at Obama and the rest of the DNC for rigging the nomination, denying us a chance to have an actual, competent president in HRC, and instead giving us a glorified teleprompter reader who looks down on the unwashed masses.
Pols are pols
and blogger boyz are boyz looking out for numero uno.
That's all this is about. I never got the feeling that he was drunk on kool-aid - just being practical. If he's playing cheerleader/seer, he's got his own agenda to protect.
Even if/when Obama starts pulling out the rug, his true supporters will be just like the ones who supported/excused Bush. But I doubt if BTD will.
Past performance may not guarantee future results
But I think in this case, it is a safe bet.
I have included BTD in my list of must-read opinions but now he is stuck and just has to hope week after week until November...
Shorter BTD: at least the media loves obama, so that has to be worth something.
"at least the media loves obama"
yet we're still hearing and seeing Ayers and the Weathermen and clips of hippies (and they're pulling up Wright clips again) all day now.
they're not ignoring a single attack from McCain/Palin.
The media is only "covering the controversy"
Also, the Obama campaign does itself no good by constantly repeating how awful the charge is.
You nailed BTD
with this:Shorter BTD: at least the media loves obama, so that has to be worth something.
Obama has been a continual let down. Suppose that he manages to win and pursue bad policies as pres with the media helping him out. Is that a good thing? The media gave us Bush II and then "sold us" on Tax cut I and II (note that McCain was against) and then sold us on Iraq. What will the media sell us with Obama? Another war? A real economic depression?
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me dozens of times and I'll try to justify it each time.
The media remains the enemy
So I never quite understood the Media Darling Theory (Honestly, what Media Darling in politics has proven to be anything but a disaster for the country?). What's the point of a so-called Democratic president if he undermines the Democratic platform and the Constitution itself? And it's not like Clinton actually needed the media to win; she had the voters.
Now we're stuck with the bastard. Why BTD and others think that now--after the economy has tanked--we have any remote chance at influencing Obama is beyond me. We had a sliver of a chance when he was in dead-heat with McCain, but that was a month ago. Now, it's just over.
BTD or Obama Campaign? you decide.

Why do you foolishly believe you know what will happen post Jan 20? And gqmartinez, "Suppose...."? Yes, let's just suppose: What if Superman had been allied with Nazi Germany? What if Spartacus had had the use of a Piper Cub?
More and more I see people dealing in fantasy, rather than advocating. You resign yourselves to failure months before a new administration.
Here are a couple of things I do know: Obama is clearly more intelligent than McCain; McCain would be a disaster for this country. I'm not exactly pleased with Obama, but, fuck, let's advocate and stop whining.
"... and stop whining."
Way to go, there, Michael. Effective advocacy!

Mandate
Was anyone else intrigued about the use of the word 'mandate' twice in the last paragraph?
It seems that the new narrative is Operation Getting Along to Get Along. Remember, also, that anyone not helping Obama in these last weeks is a KKK member/sympathizer, and they (the blogger boyz) don't have any time for us.
Yes, that man can dream because he doesn't have anything else left to do. Once you've totally handed yourself over to someone else, where else are you going to go?
So, they like to use the 'stages of grief' meme with us? I can't see a better example of it in practice than what is going on, now, with the blogger boyz. They are either at stages 3 or 5: Bargaining or Acceptance.
This far into the game, 'Hope' is little more than the refuge of a man with nowhere else left to go. I come from a city that's been hoping for 50 years; a city who's very motto is based on ethereal hope ("We Hope For Better Things; It Shall Rise From the Ashes"). You know what that city figured out?
Hope don't pay the bills.
Nice catch, damon
If the Village can't get McCain to gut everything, they'll live with a mandate for Obama's best case cautious centrism/worst case shock treatment with a smiling face. Progressivism? Not on the table.
