Are you kidding?

Seriously, do you think that Paulson would have pulled this "rescue" without the consent of both McCain and Obama?

I keep hearing people say how "intelligent" Obama is (hey, lets see those school transcripts!) but I see no evidence that he understands the economy any better than McCain -- who at least acknowledges that he doesn't understand it fully. Its glaringly obvious that he is relying on the same kind of economic advice that McCain is, rather than using his (supposedly) big brain to figure it out himself.

Er, yes?

Irony, Paul, irony!

BTD's memory not serving him well here

Two things stood out for me. First, the 90 day moratorium on mortgage foreclosures. This was first proposed by Hillary Clinton in December 2007, when she also proposed a temporary interest rate freeze. If my memory serves, Obama agreed with the idea at the time.

Well, not so much:

OBAMA'S MORTGAGE PLAN RECEIVED PRAISE OVER CLINTON'S FORECLOSURE FREEZE, WHICH WAS CALLED "DISASTROUS" AND "A FAIRY TALE"

My apologies for invoking the racist term "fairy tale."

Well gee...a pattern forming yet?

If he wins the presidency this is what we can look forward to for four/eight years: a man with no ideas who hums and haws and insults other people's plans because they make him look ill prepared. Only to later, of course, because they were the intelligent thing to do, adopt those very same plans.

The only problem is that when they show up again, they're watered down, twisted and more ineffectual then the original.

Isn't that going to be like having a Republican president all over again?

I heard this story on KGO this morning - upset me greatly

The Greatest Speeches Evah For Real People

Legislative programs and financial help to Big Business and the Fat Cats.

What a deal. New Democratic Party much like the current Republican Party. Obama just gives better speeches and has the Music Man's song and dance down pat.

If it's Tuesday, it must be an Obama edict, er, speech.

If I wasn't so lazy, I'd do a little research and figure out if there's some thought behind Obama giving these speeches on Tuesdays. I'm imagining Axelrod in front of a focus group....

I love this job!

two point five TRILLION and counting

that's the number i was given today. it'll go up. quickly.

what's the list of social programs that could pay for?

Who said trillions to the banks isn't a social program?

It just depends on the kind of society you want, doesn't it?

2.1 trillion

that's what the u.s. spent on health care + 'health care' in 2007 -- that includes all the insurance premiums, the out-of-pocket expenses, medicare, medicaid, public health -- all of it.
