Dave Johnson blogging the G20 protests:
It appeared that the police might have outnumbered the demonstrators. I have iPhone video which I can try to post that shows just how many police there were, just where I was. One the one hand there were people looking for trouble, who broke lots of windows and threw bricks at the police last night. On the other hand it is highly intimidating and creates an atmosphere where people are afraid to join peaceful protests.
What are the chances that the people throwing bricks were agent provocateurs.

uh, to answer your last...
What kind of certainty are you wanting? Like "pretty damn good"? Whatever the odds you are proposing, YEP.
that's like, a rhetorical question...
one that you would not ask if you didn't know the answer.
But it can never be repeated too often in too many ears --- in any kind of lefty demo or direct action scenario, the fool who is the loudest advocate of the craziest stuff is likely the po-lice.

The police did likely
come close to outnumbering the demonstrators - the paper said there were 4000 of them.
I've never seen such an intimidating-looking force. Quite different from the policing of the antiwar marches in DC in 2002-3.
Although their behavior on Friday afternoon was very correct, their behavior Friday night seems to have been deplorable.
Policy not party!
Couldn't they have spared some of those cops for a tea party?
Bob Seger:
When they could vote, and end the war
They're much too busy fittin' locks upon the back door
Give you a foxhole, a place to hide
Cause when the war come the cops'll be on their side
