Though I have to say I would have preferred Admiral Grace Hopper.
My first reaction, I'm ashamed to say, was "Balloons?! Let's get serious." But fun things are serious, especially -- or necessarily -- when you don't have to pay rent to consume them, and an Amelia Earhart balloon, making the contributions of women visible in the most literal way, is a happy thing, like all balloons. So have at it, say I.

I'd have preferred Grace Hopper too.
But then I'm still writing/supporting COBOL for a living.
She has a guided missile destroyer
The USS Hopper is an Arleigh Burke-class missile destroyer, which is a little more potent than a balloon, and if you have ever seen one of Admiral Hopper's lectures you would understand how appropriate it is.
She was a pistol, and her lectures are part of the training in the military for IT.
Believe me, I'm going to push for Grace Hopper.
She's a hero of mine.
