Andrew Cuomo, NY Attorney General, has written to AIG and given them till 4pm TODAY to turn over names of people getting the money (i.e.receiving bonuses) in the Financial Products subdivision. If they don't, well their offices can expect a visit from his people with the legal authority to make them talk.

Expect to see headlines with Cuomo in some
sex/tax/nanny scandal soon. Then NY will just have to replace him, too, with some ineffectual bumbler. Investigation, what investigation?
Give Me An Ambitious Politician
Longing for a cause to make himself a name (beyond his father's). Seriously. There is big potential upside for a politician willing and able to take these fuckers on.

And in NY, too...
... so able to subpoena anyone with that did business on Wall Street. Yay!
And he's moving into the void that Spitzer's implosion -- and did he implode? Or was he pushed -- opened up.

Yes, That's Where the "Able" Comes In
The AG in Kansas, no matter ambition, isn't in quite as good a position.
Now if only we could get a United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York* who sees him or herself as a future Governor.
* The Southern District has jurisdiction over Wall Street and has historically had a very strong securities fraud section, although who knows what the Bush Administration did to it. Nevertheless, my bet is there are lots of Wall Street attorneys unemployed right now who would only be too happy to practice a bit of payback.
