Anybody else notice how the "pass the damn bill" talking point...

is, analytically, identical to -- and as respectable as -- WWTSBQ? Same mentalité, completely.

Same pom pom waving, same tribal shunning of "the other" -- Jane Hamsher as a PUMA, for pity's sake? -- and same shit flowing downhill from insiders to wannabe insiders to authoritarian followers. And, of course, the same people thrown under the bus by the "creative class" -- women, working class, the poor, and elders. Thanks, "progressives"!

You aren't kidding

Krugman this morning couldn’t have made a better case for private insurers with his column…without really even mentioning private insurers. In the next office, David Brooks thinks Obama is doing a great job. Would think Obama progressives would be worried by that. He doesn’t mention the poor, the hungry, the jobless, the struggling even once in his high-minded tribute. Times is back in cheerleading form.

your right

it is an attempt to shut down debate. All for the sake of rotten legislation that will give Republicans control in the Nov election. I just don't get it.

One thought Versailles is counting on another shock at some point between now and the midterms. "Rally round the flag" always works, though this would be the first time a Democratic President has tried that. Oh, wait...

aspects of the health reform effort, speaks volumes, and is a much better indicator - to me - of where he really is on these things, much more so than anything he actually says, because what he actually says is so variable, day to day, interest group to interest group.

I can't be the only one who thinks he would prefer that the House just pass the Senate bill - period - and quit trying to make it "better."

It's like WWTSBQ all over again, only this time the SB is Pelosi.

That message - whether it is directed at Pelosi or everyone else who is dragging his or her feet and resisting being hauled into line - is everywhere.

Yes, I have noticed...

And did I read up thread that Krugman is fully on board with the Senate health care sham when he himself argued public insurance choices(whatever), were the only way to force downward pressure on private insurance markets?

The liberty of democracy is not safe if people tolerate growth of private power to a point where it becomes stronger than their democratic state itself. That, in its essence, is fascism.---FDR

Perseverance for improvement

The "just pass the damn thing 'cause I'm tired of hearing about it" crew are the same ones who argue that once the bill is passed, they'll be demanding improvements. Yeah, they're really interested in better policy. Not.

Good reading! Favorite quote: What could go wrong?
Beyond war, inflation, the end of the technology/productivity wave, and financial collapse, we think the most potent and short-term threat would be societies demanding a more ‘equitable’ share of wealth.
