The study was made available by Larisa Alexandrovna of Raw Story (via Avedon and Chris Floyd). The authors are Dan Plesch and Martin Butcher of the University of London. They state that:
Some form of low level US and possibly UK military action as well as armed popular resistance appear underway inside the Iranian provinces or ethnic areas of the Azeri, Balujistan, Kurdistan and Khuzestan.
That means we are already at war. But Bushco is keeping it under wraps until they are ready for the air strike. They say:
• Any attack is likely to be on a massive multi-front scale but avoiding a ground invasion. Attacks focused on WMD facilities would leave Iran too many retaliatory options, leave President Bush open to the charge of using too little force and leave the regime intact.
• US bombers and long range missiles are ready today to destroy 10,000 targets in Iran in a few hours.
• US ground, air and marine forces already in the Gulf, Iraq, and Afghanistan can devastate Iranian forces, the regime and the state at short notice.
As inevitable as this madness seems, they haven’t dropped the bombs yet. You can still protest, call, etc.

Col. Patrick Lang says that Plesch and Butcher are too optimistic about air power. Barnett Rubin (see comment on dailykos.com as well as a link from juancole.com) says he has heard from his sources that the “product rollout” but not the attack will begin around mid-September. Poor Navy is doomed and will be sunk like the worst act since Pearl Harbor. The Army (or at least reservists) are sittin ducks in eastern Iraq, they will be butchered by US supplied weapons from the rear, and Russian and Chinese weapons from the Iranian border.
The Marines will do a good job keep the Straits open for oil tankers, and the Air Force will fly 24/7 sorties. Heck, the Iraqi airspace is cleared for Israeli fighters. What a coikydink.
(If you want a real heads up on the bombing campaign, check Israeli new.. any one read Hebrew? I’m guessing they will lock down their borders and tighten up their ghetto/jails for Palestinians just prior to a US bombing campaign. I guarantee they have at least two days notice.)
Maybe they will start on Ramadan (Sept 13?).. just in case there were one or two sympathetic Muslims in the middle eastern area.
