As you now know, Obama has a Health Care Reform Summit planned for Thursday, March 5, and nobody invited the single payer advocates, not even when they asked nicely.
Call the White House -- ok not right NOW, since they only answer the phone during business hours apparently -- and tell them you want single payer put back on the table!
Commenters at nyceve's diary [thanks, ctman] on this have been calling already, and are reporting that the people answering the phones are saying things like Let me guess, you want single payer too, right? So keep bombarding them with phone calls, and it can't hurt to add faxes and emails too, if you like.

Step 2, if you're going to be in the vicinity on Thursday, would be to join PNHP at their rally. They're asking providers to show up wearing their white coats, maybe we patients should show up wearing our hospital gowns.

you beat me to it
also, sign the petition
you have to get up pretty early in the morning
to get ahead of those of us who stay up half the night.
thanks for keeping up with all the updates!
Just called WH, on hold quite awhile; my comment taker was not
terribly happy sounding at hearing my comment. I was direct, but polite. Expressed surprise that this WH healthcare summit had rejected requests from single payer proponents, noted cost savings of single payer of one sort or another, mentioned recent polling showing 65% of public supports single payer, wondered why public was being asked to support the humongous profits of the Big Insurance. I in no way impurned the president's motives or accused him of not fulfilling the needs of the people,, but did close with asking she pass on to the president that my insurer now wanted over $20K per year for my insurance beginning April.
Then the woman asked me what my comment was!!! I said I want representation and consideration of singple payer approaches to providing healthcare in this nation and asked what she had thought I'd been saying. Then she said she had noted my comment -- and somehow I didn't feel she had, actually.
Holy moly!
Just remember that rotary phones always get a human!
Just saying.
At least the person on the other end of the line got "HR 676" right -- and that I was likely to be for it, when I mentioned "single payer."

Sicko
we said it before, but to repeat Showtime is running Sicko
Just got an email from HC-N
Obviously they heard form a lot of poeple. You can be sure that much is going on behind the scenes for this to have happened, we just need to keep spreading the word about HR 676.
The thousands of squeaky wheels finally
get some grease!
Huzzah!
squeak squeak squeak squeak squeak squeak
count me on the side of the cynical, i'll believe we'll get single payer the first time i go to the doctor and they say no problem, we'll just send the bill to medicare. like jawbone, i think we need to keep on squeaking.
but yeah, a small tentative hooray! from me too today.
Hooray!
I don't think they should cancel the White House demo, though. Maybe it could continue spontaneously?

I suggest we keep on calling the WH and asking for single payer-
maybe it will help move Obama a tittle or tad -- or more -- to the left.
While calling, mention this suggestion from Michael Dukakis. From a post by Dave Johnson as Seeing the Forest:
Just think of the economic stimulus from such a move! Wow. Dave goes on with some listing of benefits:
Click on over for the rest of the good reasons. Great suggestion, Gov. Dukakis!
Mention this idea when you call...please!
