If you have "no place to go," come here!

Aravosis on "progressives" and the Obama campaign: "All the dirty work they asked us to do."

Avarosis:

Gibbs is now claiming, on behalf of the White House, that anyone who is upset with the way President Obama is handling his job clearly did not organize, campaign, or raise money for candidate Obama back in 2008.

Really? That's the latest White House response to Obama voters [not, one notes, D voters] who are sincerely concerned about the direction this White House is taking on so many issues. To smear everyone and suggest that they didn't lift a finger to get the President elected? Seriously?

Then there's all that work we did for the campaign, all the dirty work they asked us to do -- and we did it, gladly, and quietly [Cross your ankles, please. We've only got one nail.] -- none of that counted either, apparently.

Oh, the humanity!* But... Wait a minute! What "dirty work" does Avarosis have in mind?

And by "what" dirty work, I mean which dirty work?

1. The doctored War Room video. It's still a mystery who propagated the (copyright-violating) video that smeared the Clintons as racists right before the IN primary, and the access bloggers seemed curiously unwilling to address the matter. Was that "dirty work" that sincerely concerned Obama voters like Avarosis "gladly" did?

2. The RFK smear. The video behind that story blew up out of nowhere and went viral after somebody tipped FOX, and people who were in the room when the video was captured never even noticed it. Was that "dirty work" that sincerely concerned Obama voters like Avarosis "gladly" did?

3. TX caucus fraud. We still don't know who figured out that "precinct packets" were the weak point of the TX caucus system, and who organized the suppression of pro-Clinton votes by seizing control of them. (Remember that the secret ballot, democratic vote in TX went decisively to Clinton). Was that "dirty work" that sincerely concerned Obama voters like Avarosis "gladly" did?

And of course, there are other minor stories, like Kos. IIRC from my view in the trenches, it was clear that the OFB came in waves, had shift changes, used the same talking points, and pushed the same conversion narratives. When the primaries began, DK was a community of Democrats. Soon, Kos as The Obama 527 Formerly Known as Daily Kos, and most any Hillary supporter who was tired of being smeared as a racist had left the site, and, often, the party (not a bad thing, of course). Was that "dirty work" that sincerely concerned Obama voters like Avarosis "gladly" did?

And so on. Readers want to know! What "dirty work" does Avarosis have in mind?

NOTE * Gee, is John Avarosis the "progressive" blogger who has a hard time making it on $75K a year? Why, yes. He is indeed.

NOTE Hat tip, gmanedit. And for the record:

If the relentless "Roe v. Wade" chanting was one of those dirty deeds. We were told Obama would protect Roe v. Wade and that's why we should vote for him.

Well, Roe v. Wade hasn't been overturned, but abortion (and birth control), thanks to the Health Whatever Bill, the Executive Order, Bush's "conscience clause" (still in effect) and the upcoming Smith-Lipinski bill, are pushing us down the path of an abortion-free, birth-control-free nation. All thanks to the "pro-life" Democrats in Obama's coalition, the existence of which we were RACISTS for mentioning.

By the way, is there some sort of in-joke with Aravosis' name? A play on "Avaricious?"

I can never get his name right. I file words sonically, and after the 75K thing, yes, I think Aravosis is right next to avaricious....

I'm not sure how I file words, but I do seem to be a good speller.

While I understand that life in D.C. is expensive, I think that a single guy living on $75K shouldn't have a whole lot to complain about. If I were single in NYC (which I'm sure is at least as expensive as D.C., if not more) I would be able to live pretty damn well on that kind of dough. :-p

I'm a single guy, and $75k isn't chicken feed but it's a little over half what I was making at my last job. If that was my new salary, I would have to sell my (small) house and move into a small apartment and that would sure seem pretty impoverished to me. But at this point I would probably take it.

It all depends on what you're used to.

Americans (from his link):

Palin also apologized Tuesday for any misunderstanding caused when she referred last week to the patriotic values of "the real America" and "pro-America areas of this great nation."

Democrats and others criticized Palin for seeming to imply that some parts of the country are more patriotic than others.

Palin denied that was her intention in an interview with CNN on Tuesday.

"I don't want that misunderstood," Palin said. "If that's the way it came across, I apologize."

The Alaska governor made the remarks at a fundraising event in North Carolina last week.

"We believe that the best of America is in these small towns that we get to visit, and in these wonderful little pockets of what I call the real America, being here with all of you hard-working, very patriotic, very pro-America areas of this great nation," she told the crowd.

Wonder if the WH will try to WORM Gibbs's remarks!

"Do quietly"? And stay quiet about?

Oh, Aravosis, now might be a good time to not keep quiet any longer. The sooner Obama realizes he's a one termer the sooner the Dems can try to find a real Democratic leader.

If the Dems actually want to do such a thing....

What a tantalizing remark, John....

Charles II
I think John Aravosis is extremely fastidious, such that he considers phone banking or folding brochures to be dirty work. As far as I can tell, 2008 was as clean a campaign as we've ever had.
