Here's a place to think about financial reconstruction.

First Draft is often a great place to find information about what's really going on -- and what ought to be, instead, I think. Thinking about where bailouts really are needed, instead of on Wall Street, made me wonder what would be the best use of that $1 trillion or so the corporate moguls want to steal from the treasury, at the behest of Bushco.

Here would be a good place to use some of it. What did go wrong when that bridge fell in the river? Why wasn't the maintenance done to prevent that?

Some of these stories might offer good uses for that money.

I just think we need to remember things we're forgetting, in the spin and rinse cycle of our GOP-driven media.

Soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines -- casualties of war on both sides in Afghanistan and Iraq. Blowing people to pieces doesn't solve anything, even when you do it on an industrial scale. Better to use the money Wall Street wants to save and improve lives, put real people back to work AWAY from the infestment bankers' (hat tip to lambert) greedy little pericardial hot zone, eh?
