It all started when we got a post saying the list owner, Jim Frye, regreted that we had left his list and would we please come back. We replied that we had not left it. Following is his reply and following that our reply to him, and yes, we did have a bit of tongue in cheekiness going here.

Correct, you did not leave - I removed you from the group. If you want to do a deadender, sore loser Hillary bit online and help the Republicans smear the Democratic nominee for President, I can't stop you. What I can do is stop you from doing it in my group and bothering real Democrats who are working very hard to see that the next President has a (D) behind his name. If, sometime in the future, you can get over what supporters of John Edwards, Joe Biden, Dennis Kucinich, etc. etc. have had to deal with - namely, that their just-as-fiercely supported choices for the Democratic nomination didn't make it this year - I'll reconsider your application to rejoin the group. If you insist on continuing your temper tantrum and Obama bashing, you'll just have to find another group to do that in.
My hope is that soon you will see that helping the other party's candidate (one absolutely anti-women and women's rights) by attacking our candidate is unwise and self-defeating. I know you can do it - the emails I've personally received and enjoyed in the past from your email list shows me that once you've gotten over Hillary (and please remember this: Senator Clinton won't be the last viable female candidate for President, she was just the first) you'll choose to help elect the next Democratic President. Do let me know.
Jim Frye
Group Owner, Democrats_2008
P.S. I do understand how you feel here. I've been an active Democrat for 36 years now and many of my first choices for the Democratic nomination, some I was just as emotionally invested in as you were with Mrs. Clinton, not only didn't win the nomination, some didn't even stay in long enough for me to be able to vote for them when I lived in California or now in Oregon. In fact, this year will mark only the 2nd time my first choice actually won the Democratic standard bearer position. The ones who did get the nomination were flawed too, but the alternative the Republicans offered was much worse - many proving to be so once in office. Please, keep that in mind as you continue.

Thank you for your response, Jim.
I regret that still another Democrat has taken on the example of the MSM and censor opinions that are contrary to theirs but that is your prerogative. Not very Democratic, but hey, whatever works for you. Why are you so afraid that your readers may be open minded and capable of thinking for themselves? Weird as it sounds, FOX News has become a choice for many Democrats, first because it alone refrained from the horrible sexism practiced by the MSM, now because it allows contrary opinions to be voiced.
BTW, what happened to this slogan you end your e-mails with: "Conservatives preach about liberty and freedom. Liberals put them into practice."
You are following the Obama way - stiffle all opposition; be sanctimonious and whine if criticized. That was the way of Bush and many men through history to gain power. If he is elected, and it looks like he will since he owns the media, I can picture you and others, who dump the Constitution's free and open speech imparitives, basking in the shade of his many palaces and huge statues made in his image.
Strange as it may seem, we are feeling rather good about being dumped by you. It shows us the fear you have of your candidate's "truthiness". And as for your PS - McCain is the better candidate, despite his age. He may be slower than a younger person but his brain has not been addled by cocain and other drugs.
We have not yet detemined the harm done by these drugs. They may be the cause of Obama's flip flops on important Constitutional matters such as FISA or the reason he cannot take a joke. Maureen Dowd noted, "he can¢t even allow anyone to make jokes about him, and that his supporters are so evangelical and eager for a champion to rescue America that their response to any razzing is a sanctimonious: Don¢t mess with our messiah!"

I love you, twandx. Bitch slap that boy.
I love this job!
Feelings...
Nothing more than feelings...
Feelings....
Whoa-oh-oh feelings....
I'll let bringiton slap you around on McCain, but sheesh. Was "get over it" in there? Why, I think it was!

We Have Different Definitions of Tongue-In-Cheek
I do think it's a shame that any progressive list finds it necessary to eliminate different points of view. So I support you there.
It strikes me as especially odd that Mr. Frye would have sent you an email bemoaning your leaving his list, so that he could emphasize that he'd banned you from it. Any idea why he didn't just do that upfront, since he clearly wanted to make sure you knew that you had been and why?
I must say that your reply, rather than make Mr. Frye have any doubts that he was right to dismiss you as a non-proud liberal, has probably cemented his assurance that he was right.
Obama's brain is addled by cocaine use? What is that supposed to be satirizing? Quoting Maureen Dowd, are we now? Oh, and before anyone tells me again that it isn't worth keeping track of the many ways in which she demeans our political discourse, please be aware that her toxic column published yesterday morning, became, by yesterday afternoon, the prime subject on MSNBC, with the unquestioned assumption upon which the discussion was based that Obama is, indeed, a sourpuss, incapable of making or taking a joke.
Explain to me how Obama is now stiffling all criticism. Any attempt on the part of his campaign to question his press coverage is "whinning" now? You are aware that the SCLM
, although slightly more receptive to Obama, partly because he was running against a Clinton, especially at the end, hasn't changed it's not-so-called stripes and that it is already busy as can be distorting much about Obama's positions?
And of course that classic entirely non-Clinton critique of Obama, he's just like Bush. Maybe there was a reason that neither Clinton ever went there.
Yes indeed, nothing like a good "bitch" slap to win friends and influence people; and all the better when it's administered to a potential ally.
I say this with regret, but in terms of this conflict and your telling of it, twandx, I find little to choose between you and Mr. Frye.
It's stifling, dammit, the both of you
Please refer to PatriotBoy for a definition of "stiffling," if indeed there is one. It sounds like the sort of thing he would know.

"Stifflering" OTOH
Is a disgusting and perverted hobby.

isn't the rule of PB 2.0 that we don't repeat right wing smears?
No one should have anything to do with MoDo under any circumstances. Somerby is exactly right, MoDo is the designer version of Ann Coulter.
+100
+1000.

rule
isn’t the rule of PB 2.0 that we don’t repeat right wing smears?
that was a rule of PB 1.0 -- a rule consistently broken by Obama supporters.
And while PB 2.0 may be a fun exercise in intellectual masturbation, the simple fact is that the shape of the progressive blogosphere will be determined by the results in November, and we're still in PB 1.0.
personally, at this point I have no problem giving the Obots (and the Obama campaign itself) a very large taste of its own medicine -- in fact, I'd be thrilled if 'right wing smears about Obama' became conventional wisdom before the convention -- rather than after so we can get Hillary into the Oval office.
Oh noes
Seems like there's a whole lotta purging goin' on.
(And I thought it was just an eating disorder).
Oh Good God.
I suppose I should chime in to say that I've never heard a right-winger bring up Obama's drug use for any prolonged period of time.
Smear?
Besides that, this is getting tiresome.
Obama sucks. The DNC sucks.
Let them wither on the vine.
Play with fire, get burned.
Yada yada yada.
I'm sure a Republican list would be more welcoming
Of:
--Unfounded rumors that the Democratic candidate has a drug-addled brain.
--Claims using MoDo as a source.
--Information from someone whose choice in news is Fox.
I don't mean to sound snarky. It genuinely seems your head is leading you to another party but your heart doesn't want to let go.
@ Myiq2xu, which hand would that be?
On topic, I intend to enjoy Twandx's response although it may rely on some less-than-true buttons upon which they push.
Off topic, this blogosphere 2.0 initiative is a wonderful thing but be careful that we don't extract the one element of the blogosphere that brought many of us here and keeps us here - the ability to share our feelings.
I love this job!
I've always used two hands to stiffle
How embarrassing.
The nerve. The nerve. The fucking nerve.....
... of some people.
If I were twandx, I'd declare my sudden and undying affection for Dick 'Dick' Cheney, to the extent that I have an extensive Secret Service file detailing my attempts to sneak into his undisclosed location so I might service him orally, just to push that rat bastard of a list admin into apoplexy.
Because he deserves shame and ignominy for gleefully pushing people away from the Democratic Party whom he should be bringing back into the fold. Reason, loneliness, doubts discussed through honest communication could bring his purged people back. Continued insults will only harden their hearts.
And Leah, his thoughtcrime is more extensively damaging to our prospects than one broad voting for McCain, yes?
Isn't advertising his assholeness a feeding of the image of an Obama fan as rabid, relentless and cruel?
His rejection of an entire group of people -- then bragging to their faces of his accomplishment instead of approaching his purged more respectfully -- is an open insult, deliberate in its face, meant to offend openly people whom he had snubbed too quietly for his own taste. If there were Keating Five supersekrit pr0n on the Internets, I'd send it to him as a virus that would play on repeat until he was forced to purge his operating system.
What he did is worse than voting for McCain, for the Democratic Party's image. And if you believe he's only one person, so why be concerned? So's twandx. What part of that do you not understand?
“I don’t mean to sound
"I don’t mean to sound snarky. It genuinely seems your head is leading you to another party but your heart doesn’t want to let go."
"Another party" is not the only place to go if you question or reject Nobamania. And I don't mean hell. Or Ron Paul, for that matter.
In England, they call this "the Silly Season". This crap here i'nt silly, mates.
Willy: Thank you!
Stiffling is highly over-rated.
Parties are not families
Parties are instrumental; they are there for a purpose. We should feel free to do what is needed to make them serve our purposes.
That said, I don't think I'd feel so angry at the Dems if I didn't feel betrayed, so at some level, that means my feelings about the party were not instrumental.

Bravo for such a brilliant performance... actor studio style, observation-based and very realistic!
