Breakfast

Texas is home to some wonderful food.

I am partial to breakfast. But yesterday someone sent me what they considered a “gross” You Tube video. It’s a clip from Texas Country Reporter, and the subject is chicken-fried bacon.

Hmm. Beats the living daylights out of anything in politics.

deep fried bacon? that sounds evil, and wonderful. i am such a bacon junkie. share the recipe, sarah. or the youtube.

We’ve got a mexican place that takes an avacodo, stuffs it with shrimp, cheese and mushrooms, then batters and deep fries it. Delicious.

Chicken Fried Bacon is

bacon dredged in seasoned flour, dipped in an egg-and-buttermilk batter, and floured again, then deep fried, and served with cream gravy.

It sounds yummy, and I can see Dr. Deepak Chopra and Dr. Sanjay Gupta cringing in horror at the very idea it exists.

Hmm. Time to go to the grocery store.

Bacon Candy

Fry 1 inch pieces of bacon slowly with maple syrup. About 1oz syrup to 4oz bacon. Cook until the mixture turns clear. Use tongs to place pieces on buttered cookie sheet.

Note: This stuff is super sticky as it cools.

…and don’t decide on its flavor until you’ve tried it.
