Broderella channels Nooners

Nooners being Our Lady Of Is It Irresponsible To Speculate? It Is Irresponsible Not To. The Dean:

I confess that it is only speculation to suggest that Obama's recent performance is motivated by a desire to confuse the opposition. ...

I'm gonna have to use that one. But sheesh. Who's confused? Are you confused? What a bunch of hooey. Take the package, Dave! Take the package! Oh, wait...

He did.

No, but seriously, lest I be hoisted on the same petard I hoisted Kevin Drum on the other day, let me point out the real significance of the column: Broder, too, is pivoting away from Obama:

Obama will be in trouble only if the pattern continues to the point that undecided voters come to believe that he has a character problem -- that they really can't trust him.

And I know the very columnist to help them make that difficult choice.

NOTE Thanks for the FISA Clusterfuck, Obama. You made it really easy for Broder with that one.

Can't Decide

if the SCLM is returning to their one true love or is simply afraid there won't be much of a horse race to cover if they don't help the inept McCain campaign out. McCain got mixed coverage this week.

Obama is very lucky McCain is so far running a terrible campaign. If McCain could get his act together, Obama would be in trouble, IMO. Which is startling given the mood of the country.

they're returning to their one true love--

they ignore most if not all of McCain's gaffes, and undercover the ones they do talk about.

Gee, Why would anyone think that voters would come

to believe that they really can’t trust him just because he does 180s on major issues like FISA? Racking up so many nuances ( WORM for flip flops) on issues during a two week period might just be confusing Democratic voters even more than the opposition.

For me, his actions solidified an already existing fear, lack of trust or opinion. Take your pick.

Good reading! Favorite quote: What could go wrong?
Beyond war, inflation, the end of the technology/productivity wave, and financial collapse, we think the most potent and short-term threat would be societies demanding a more ‘equitable’ share of wealth.
