If you thought the US military was way too big, and a danger to its own country and the rest of the world, how would you go about reducing it, or at least its effectiveness in imposing imperialism? It was by all measures and estimations the most indominable force ever assembled...but now?
President Bush acknowledged for the first time yesterday that the United States is not winning the war in Iraq and said he plans to expand the overall size of the "stressed" U.S. armed forces to meet the challenges of a long-term global struggle against terrorists.
As he searches for a new strategy for Iraq, Bush has now adopted the formula advanced by his top military adviser to describe the situation. "We're not winning..."
Do you ever wonder if we've figured Bush and the neocons all wrong? They were old Trotskyites after all... Go look at everything that's happened that caused us to create a Department of No! They Would Never Do THAT! and Department of What Is Wrong With These People? and consider it in light of the first question posed here.
If Bush and his backers were to devote 30 years to a project to destroy the US military as an overwhelming force, they've done everything exactly, perfectly right. If his/their purpose was anything else though, they seem just a bit like nitwits.
