President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran [was] scheduled to address the General Assembly just hours after Mr. Bush does today as the tense negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program continue.
Mr. Bush said flatly on Friday that he would not meet with Mr. Ahmadinejad at the United Nations this week — or any other week, anywhere else — if the Iranian leader did not first comply with his demands.
“This is not Khrushchev and Kennedy taking a measure of one another for the first time,†said an administration official who would speak only on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak freely on the matter. “We’re talking about the former mayor of Tehran here.â€
These guys just ooze class, don’t they?
I mean, playing schoolyard games with leaks in the papers about a guy they’re in the midst of “tense negotiations” with.
Call me crazy, but it’s as if they’re doing everything possible to make the negotiations fail.
But that just couldn’t be. Right?
