Bush gives out Christianist Home Schooling 800 number to homeowners seeking mortgage relief hotline

CNN:

WASHINGTON (CNN) — Harried homeowners seeking mortgage relief from a new Bush administration hotline Thursday had to contend with a bit of temporary misdirection from the president himself.

As he announced his plan to ease the mortgage crisis for consumers, Bush accidentally gave out the wrong phone number for the new “Hope Now Hotline” set up by his administration.

UPDATE: Anyone who dialed 1-800-995-HOPE did not reach the mortgage hotline but instead contacted the Freedom Christian Academy — a Texas-based group that provides Christian education home schooling material.

Funny. Except not.

As it is written (Luke 11:11): "If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent?"

Typical Republicans: Throw a drowning man a bible. I just always thought that was a metaphor; I didn't expect to see it in real life!

NOTE Oddly, or not, the Freedom Christian Academy also seems to be into marketing nutritional supplements, and one of the companies, Mannatech, is the subject to a class action for invesor fraud. Christianist fraudsters in Bush's mental rolodex? I wonder why...

UPDATE Over at Big Baby Blue, Attaturk says Bush should have suggested "1-800-382-5968." Here's why:

That was quite a stretch on the investor (or invesor)fraud application. To suggest this Christian organization has anything to do w/fraud just shows your bias. Did you bother to call anyone before making such a silly assertion?

Or does that not qualify as "anything to do with" in your tiny Christianist mind?

Good reading! Favorite quote: What could go wrong?
Beyond war, inflation, the end of the technology/productivity wave, and financial collapse, we think the most potent and short-term threat would be societies demanding a more ‘equitable’ share of wealth.
