Bush "lobbies furiously" for Bush + Reid + Pelosi + Frank + Obama + Paulson trillion dollar giveaway

Which is already not working. AP:

President Bush and congressional backers of a $700 billion financial industry bailout carried out high-intensity lobbying Thursday, on the eve of a crucial House vote that Bush said "a lot of people are watching."

Although those "people" are, presumably, not little people.

Bush resumed his plea for passage from the White House as both Democratic and Republican party leaders worked the offices and halls of congressional office buildings. The goal: secure enough votes to send Bush a bill that he said presents the "best chance" to combat the widening credit crunch.

Gee. It's like they're all in it together, isn't it?

Whoever expected post-partisanship to turn out like this? Or to arrive so soon?

Obama lobbies Dems while Bush lobbies GOPer

Ha. And to think I tried to warn about pissing away our negotiating power with camp Obama and some of my betters here at Corrente (and the real world) had nothing but contempt and condescension for me.

Guest on WNYC's Leonard Lopate Show saying Wall Street attys

helped write the Paulson Fix (Is In), per what he has been told by insiders. That the purported precautions were written in a way to make it easy for Treasury and the Merry Banksters to avoid following them.

Gee, I think that's predicted here and elsewhere.

...but what about America’s small businesses? We look into how the bailout bill could affect small business owners in the U.S. if it passes. Lloyd Chapman is president of the American Small Business League. WNYC intro

Chapman says he is not big fan of this bill. He says he's learned that whenever Congress tries to pass a bill quickly it's something they don't want the public to look at too closely. {We've all learned that--except for the Dems.) Disgusted WH is trying to cram this down our throats. End of segment--I came in at the very end.

Of course, Obama is right there noodling the legislative goose, cramming it down reluctant Dems' throats. Get ready for another BOHICA.

Obama-BOHICA. BOHICA-Obama. I feel a song coming on....

I don't think I've witnessed Obama come out as firmly for anything prior to his public and private work on behalf of the Obama-Bush Paulson Fix. Have any of you seen him be this passionate and proactive on anything else? Except winning the nomination?

Podcast will be available later today.

I feel another song coming on--"Let's Call the Whole Thing Off." Would that we could.

What a Fitting End to the Bush Presidency.

You've got Iraq on one end and the manufactured Crisis of 2008 on the other end. If I didn't know any better, I'd think Bush was trying to speed towards the title of Worst President E V A H.

But, we've always been at war with Eastasia...
