Opportunity cost's a bitch, isn't it? Cass Sunstein in WaPo:

For the United States, the cost of the Iraq war will soon exceed the anticipated cost of the Kyoto Protocol, the international agreement designed to control greenhouse gases. For both, the cost is somewhere in excess of $300 billion.

Of course, given Bush's record of incompetence in the Iraq Clusterfuck, it's probably a good thing He didn't tackle global warming; we might be even worse off than we are.

Still, which would you rather be in hock to the Chinese for? Bush's war of choice for oil, or not having the oceans rise twenty feet?

For Bush and the rest of the Republican oil junkies, the answer was clear: Their fix.

Of course, Hellmouth Crawford, TX is pretty far inland...
