We don't have a Scaife on the left, who props up otherwise unsaleable authors of fascist poop with bulk orders to get them on "best-seller" lists. The alternative would be that we all become little promoters, not just by buying books for ourselves but by getting a couple (dozen if practicable) extra copies and spreading them around to folks who otherwise might not see them. Here's my nominee for the first test project: The Constitution (Translated For Kids).
Where I found out about this: Raleigh NC News&Observer. Good story. You will find that the author is a person of good character who we should be supporting anyway. And this is a hell of a good idea for a book. We accept that other things written in language somewhat complicated, or arcane by today's standards (Shakespeare, the Bible, etc) benefit by this process, so why not the Constitution? Don't be put off by the "For Kids" thing, the work is pitched to the educational market and I hope it has a roaring success there, both in the institutional School and the homeschool sectors.
Giggle factor though: If you go to the book's own order page you see a link labeled "Barnes & Noble." It goes to Amazon. Of course better you should bug your local, preferably independent, bookstore to stock a few copies so it gets more attention among the non-online populace. A nice rack full of these right next to Ann Coulter's latest spewage would be a nice display, don'tcha think?
