Bye Carly

Ah geez, John McCain has lost another of his inner circle to diarrhea of the mouth. This time the victim is Carly Fiorina. And what sin has Carly, the former head of HP, committed? She called Sarah Palin unqualified to run a large company and then later when asked for clarification said that John McCain couldn't do it either.

Asked by a St. Louis radio station whether she thought Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin could run a company like Hewlett-Packard, Fiorina responded: "No, I don't.

Then our heroine goes on MSNBC and promptly says:

"I don't think John McCain could run a major corporation.

Apparently such honest appraisal will now get Carly a seat next to Phil on the bench. Accordingly a campaign aide says,

"Carly will now disappear."

Damn, after all the accusations of dishonesty by the McCain campaign in the past week you'd think they'd be pleased by such forthrightness.

That's the arrogance

Corporations are rather small by the size of governments -- and anyone who's ever worked in a cube knows that inefficiency happens in corporations, too.

Absolutely Right, lambert

I hear so many people complain to me about government because they in the private sector do it better, but when I really quiz them, they're fucked up in almost exactly the same ways. Which makes sense because both government and corporations are run by imperfect, fucked up human beings. The only difference is we've had a political climate for the last 30 years where people bash the government and sing the praises of corporations. And how's that working out?

Sorry, this is one of my pet peeves. I've worked with lawyers every bit as good in Government as I did in my big fancy law firm and after working for the Government for 30 years they still make less than a first year associate. Which is not to say we don't have some idiots and incompetent people around, too. It's just that those people are no more abundant in Government than they are anywhere else. It's remarkable but true that people are people.

Obama couldn't run HP either

That's what she *should* have said.
Oh, well, Streisand is gone from Obama's side. Tit-for-tat.

Um ...

According to friends who worked for HP (not to mention the HP Board of Directors), Carly Fiorina couldn't run a major corporation either.

I guess it really does take one to know one.
