This just makes me mad. I’m glad we have the new category of “what is wrong with these people,” because this is just classic. Note to all Democratic candidates: make sure you ducks are in a row before running for office, for surely the Republicans are going to take advantage of every little potential conflict of interest, misconduct, and misrepresentation they can find on you. And you know, while you’re making sure your tax returns and voter registration cards have the same address, you might want to think about looking into your Republican challenger’s public records and see if they’ve given you any easy openings. Ricky is just one of a long list of Republicans who play loose with the rules, and most voters get pissed of when the find out that Republicans think and act like rules are only for us little people.

I guess I’m just tired of always reading about Republicans playing hardball, and never the Democrats. When the fuck are they going to learn? I imagine what the political landscape would look like if it were Pelosi and a page; I’m not blaming Democrats for the SCLM, but still- I want to see more going for the jugular. On the page issue, and every other. Today’s Republicans set new records for corruption, misconduct, lying, cheating and stealing. It shouldn’t be hard to craft a two-pronged message for every issues. “Democrats have the following sensible plan to address issue X, which is in strong contrast to the Republican malfeasance and misconduct resulting in issue X not being addressed.” That’s a little clunky, but I’m sure the soundbite masters can come up with ads that use that method.

Republicans are masters at this, and it’s time Democrats took a page from that playbook. If six years of ultra-corrupt, ultra-nasty politics have taught us anything, it’s that laying down and making nice with the other side only results in defeat and irrelevancy.

Hire some of the Republican strategy firms if you have to Dems, it’s high time to wise up.
