The evil that is ACTA
As Cory Doctorow says:
Here's a 20-minute, must-see lecture on the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement -- the secret copyright treaty currently being negotiated, which stands to fatally wound all user-generated content sites from mailing lists to YouTube; which stands to criminalize kids for noncommercial file-sharing; which stands to put your internet connection in jeopardy if anyone in your house is accused of infringement, and much, much more.

Tell Pelosi there is still time for her to do the right thing
[So what's the outcome? I've been Googling, checking around, and nada. What's up? -- lambert]
On Monday Pelosi will decide whether or not to restore the Kucinich Amendment as a managers amendment.
If you live in her district you can contact herhouse site.
If you have a YouTube account you can leave a comment at her YouTube Channel.
If you have a blog you can write an open letter to restore the Kucinich amendment and track back to Speaker Blog.
Social networking and the CIA: what you don't know could be spying on you
Via Wired:
America’s spy agencies want to read your blog posts, keep track of your Twitter updates — even check out your book reviews on Amazon.
In-Q-Tel, the investment arm of the CIA and the wider intelligence community, is putting cash into Visible Technologies, a software firm that specializes in monitoring social media. It’s part of a larger movement within the spy services to get better at using ”open source intelligence” — information that’s publicly available, but often hidden in the flood of TV shows, newspaper articles, blog posts, online videos and radio reports generated every day.

Inches
Okay, everyone can watch and read into it all kinds of various things as to the language. And, niggle with the language and the concepts they like or don't like.
But, life really is a game of "inches".
Even the lowliest worm can turn
This is heartbreaking, in so many ways -- not least when we imagine what Jay Rockefeller might have become, had he, throughout his long career, always acted from the heart. Go read the transcript at Susie's place. [This may not show up; it seems to be Flash from CSPAN, not YouTube.]

Senator Dodd on Kucinich Amendment Protecting States Rights for Single Payer
I had thought I lost this video but I found it in the darned camera:
At the end of the blogger outreach on Saturday, September 26th, '09, I talked to Senator Dodd on the Kucinich Amendment Protecting States' Rights to move forward on Single Payer. Essentially, Dodd refers to Senator Bernie Sanders' efforts and Sanders legislation to deal with Erisa laws and allow Single Payer in States that want to start an SP system. Dodd makes no commitment to support it, but he will look at it. Sanders had previously introduced a partial fix to the system and it was rejected in the Senate HELP committee BUT if we can get him to reintroduce it, or even a stronger fix? One possibly more sympathetic and newly minted Chairperson may have the will to twist a few arms:

[I have dear friends who will vehemently disagree with me about this. But so be it; I have to make a choice!]
Now that Edwards is out of the race I find myself, like VastLeft, surprised, even chagrined, to find myself endorsing Hillary. But there it is. I wish this could be something other than a rambling, impressionistic post, but heck: Maybe that's how we all make decisions anyhow.
My bottom line is this:
I feel that I know Hillary. For all her faults, I know her.
I want to entrust the very challenging future of our country to someone I know. Simple as that.
I don't feel that I know Obama, and the more I learn about him, the less I like.
