One of Obama’s damage control frontiers this week is the “cover up” after the tragic and deadly attack on the Benghazi consulate last September.
It is being roundly pooh-poohed as not scandal-label-worthy by Obama Team Dems. The one MSNBC anchor I am willing to watch, Chris Hayes, tonight led the pooh-poohers much to my frustration. He called it a “nothingburger”! Read below the fold...

US drones are destroying many “collateral damage” civilians in Yemen and thus inspiring more and more Yemenis to bitterly and momentously side with Al-Qaeda against the US. Declares Glenn Greenwald, the droning is not only amoral but strategically STUPID. Read below the fold...

NATO ministers met in Brussels today, December 5th, to approve Turkey’s request for Patriot missiles and for foreign and US troops to be deployed to their border with Syria.
The US/NATO War-machine plows onward in the attempted illegitimate overthrow of Syria, much as it did with its successful illegitimate overthrow of Libya.
Turkey has offered geographical strategic assistance to the US- and NATO-backed so-called “rebels” trying to overthrow Assad’s Syrian regime. Turkey now offers itself as a flimsy fig-leaf for craven powerful western intervention into Syria. Read below the fold...

QUOTE #1 -- US POLICE SHOOT TO KILL
Anne Sewell “Houston Cop Shoots and Kills Double-amputee in Wheelchair”
In an incident outside of a group home in Houston, a police officer shot and killed a wheelchair bound, double-amputee after the man threatened his partner. Unfortunately the object with which the man was threatening the officer's partner turned out to be a pen.
John Garcia is the owner of the home at 4309 Polk where Brian Claunch, a schizophrenic man in his 40's, has been living for the past 18 months with two other men. Garcia has reportedly operated the personal care home for the past eight years.

Protests at US embassies are occurring throughout the Middle East and beyond. Four days thus far and counting.
Over a dozen deaths and hundreds of injuries.
The triggering catalyst was an ugly anti-Islamic video posted on YouTube but Bill Van Auken of wsws explains something even the most obtuse American should know by now, “underlying them [the upheavals] is deep-seated anger over the wars and oppression inflicted by American imperialism over the decades.” Read below the fold...

I am presently working on a continuation of a blog about how the Iraq War WMD engineering of consent playbook is now being used in Syria thanks to a cravenly cronied and betraying “stenographic” Western media. A bobble-headed media that drinks any kool-aid their hegemonic administrations serve up and myopically and manipulatively uses its corporate-paid echo chambers to stir up a mass nationalistic righteous jingoistic conviction among citizens that is often profoundly unwarranted, wrong-headed and deadly. That enables massive perpetration of evil on our global fellow human beings.
I came across an Exhibit A example from the Libyan War of how the "humanitarian intervention" justification used so readily and righteously by the US and NATO is pretty much a crock of shit. Read below the fold...

Bill Van Auken of wsws has a NON-shallow take on Bill Keller’s recent disappointingly shallow column on the New York Time’s role in the launch of the Iraq War:
On the ninth anniversary of the US invasion of Iraq, New York Times columnist and former editor Bill Keller has penned a self-serving piece that obscures his own role in justifying that war, while setting ground rules for launching the next one.
Keller’s headline—“Falling in and out of war”—is an accurate reflection of the smug and cynical character of the well-heeled layer of establishment liberals of which he is a part, and which today constitutes a principal constituency for imperialism.

Tom Eley of WSWS reveals that the newly elected interim prime minister of Libya is a faculty member of the Petroleum Institute, a think tank funded by BP and other salivating Brit, French and American oil companies prepping the carve up of Libya’s oil resources.
QUITE THE COINKY-DINK, eh?
The Libyan War. The regime change from Gaddafi. The destruction of a country. Humanitarianism? The Arab spring?
“It’s the oil, stupid!”
BP? Hmmmmm. That name rings a bell even in, as Gore Vidal proclaimed it, the United States of Amnesia!

Muammar Gaddafi’s barbaric murder on October 20, 2011 was a war crime. It violated the Third Geneva Convention of 1929 and it violated the UN Security Council Resolution #1973 of 2011.
Will it be seriously investigated and prosecuted? Probably and tragically not. Or maybe a “short-lived” (pun intended) kabuki investigation. But I am guessing not even that.
So when did American presidents and secretaries of state stop caring entirely about international law?
So when did most of America, in fact, stop caring entirely about international law? Read below the fold...

So while Obama is celebrating his assassination of an American citizen without due process, his phony war on Libya promises massive profits for the international corporate elites.
Obama, as ever, pragmatically counting on a myopic low information and/or blood-lusting amoral and/or passively indifferent and/or distracted by personal economic crises citizenry to continue to stay enthralled and/or passive to a poser personality a/k/a international war criminal president uber a remotely moral leader.

The story could not have been summed up more succinctly: the photograph shows David Cameron and Nicolas Sarkozy in Tripoli holding aloft the hand of a Libyan leader they would like to promote. Below, the headline across three columns - "Islamists Rise in New Libya". This was refreshingly honest.

No Associated Press content was harmed in the writing of this post
When we launched our war against Libya we were assured it would last days but not weeks, or weeks but not months. We are now over five months into our involvement and it does not look like we will be finishing up any time soon. But as its architects must surely have anticipated, the absence of soldiers on the ground and our collective resignation to a permanent state of war has caused it to largely recede from public view. Jim Lehrer approves of the War in Libya apparently. I no longer approve of Jim Lehrer. He is one of the many co-producers of “Libya’s kinda Truman Show” a movie within the ever flashing movie of "America’s Willing Suspension of Disbelief." Obama, of course, sits in the director’s chair (or corporate puppet’s chair ... what have you).
I’m thinking maybe US corporate media is not the appropriate place to get reality-based info about the true nature of The Libyan War. Read below the fold...
