Doctors have diagnosed a blood clot in Vice President Dick Cheney’s lower left leg, AP reports.

“Vice President Dick Cheney made a visit to the hospital today after experiencing what his office called some ’discomfort’ following his recent trip overseas,” the Associated Press reports. “A statement from cheney’s office said an ultrasound revealed a deep venous thrombosis (DVT) or ’blood clot’ in his left lower leg and added his doctors will treat him with blood thinning medication for several months.”

The sixty-six year old vice president “experienced mild calf discomfort,” according to the AP, “and in light of his recent prolonged air travel, he visited his doctor’s office at the George Washington University Medical Faculty Associates this afternoon.”

Several people got in trouble at Huffington Post from the prestigious investigatory journalist Michelle Malkin for mocking Cheney’s bomb scare last week.

I would like to revisit the issue though. What the fuck is all that special about Cheney? He is death, destruction, pestulance, chaos, and almost always wrong whenever he opens his mouth. His bad decisions have cost hundreds of thousands of people their lives, left millions as refugees, and has brought genuine human misery to people all over the world.

We are genuinely supposed to say, “Buck up little Cheney, hope you get better so you can sell an Iran war to the numbnuts in the oval office”. Seriously. Because that is the practical result of Cheney beng able to work and do evil things.

In a culture where Anna Nicole Smith’s death gets more coverage than that of Arthur Schlesinger, Jr. maybe our priorities are a bit out of whack.

It seems to this observer that we have some native genetic need to worship at the feet of royalty ingrained into our DNA. The fact that 650,000 Iraqis are dead is not as important as DeadEye Dick being able to keep tell lies from the depths of his pitch black heart. His death will matter after all. All those kids without parents, parents without kids because of the actions of this idiot matter to somebody. Just obviously not as much as Cheney’s ability to launch nukes at Tehran.
