Clinton Derangement Syndrome: A cure must be possible

lambert's picture

Not yet , apparently, for Whoever Kidnapped Josh Marshall, although this case -- Boy makes rare recovery from rabies -- must surely give us hope.

Look, Josh -- if I may call you Josh -- I know that bashing the Clintons gets kewl kidz like you past the bouncers into Village VIP room where Fred Hiatt keeps the casting couch and all his special toys. That's fine; I'm not a child; I know what the rules are.

But do you have to be so fucking obvious about it?

My advice: Nobody's going to pay any attention if you look like you want it too bad. Lighten up!

NOTE Of course, now vetting Bill Clinton. Useless exercise though -- I mean, he's a racist, so why bother?

Jimmy Carter

The first contributor to the Carter Center was the founder of the notorious BCCI. If anyone like that has given money to the Clinton library it would be a problem. But Obama would not have made the offer it he had concerns about that.

The problem w/ Clinton as Sec of State is that foreign policy is the one thing that she has been consistently wrong about. She drinks the AIPAC kool aide.

However, this is beyond my worrying.

Thanks buddy. I needed a reminder to rejoin AIPAC.

You realize Obama is approved by AIPAC, right?

Why single Clinton out?

Not sure she drank the kool aide

but, I doubt anyone Obama might choose as SoS will stake out a position on the Israeli-Palestinian problem that differs much from HRC. And, I have to say, I do like that HRC has the ability to study the facts on the ground and revise her opinions and actions accordingly. She is much less of an idealogue than most.

Lambert, where is my comment?

My comment has disappeared. Am I stuck in moderation? If so, what did I do wrong? Help!

Rationalizing

I was watching "Jackie Brown" last night and when told that she was rationalizing (about stealing Ordell's money and tricking the ATF) she made a comment along the lines of: "[rationalizing] is what you do to carry out the sh*t you started."

That comment seemed to really hit the nail on the head about what has been happening. There has to be a rationalization for supporting Obama even though that may not be what you think is the "right" thing to do. (I won't go into the obvious reasons, but you can read pretty much any of the Obama endorsements.) The other thing is the demonization of Hillary (and Sarah Palin). Hillary and Bill are evil so it is OK to trash them with BS. Same with Sarah Palin. She's evil so lets spread lies that she charged rape victims for rape kits, or she's dumb (doesn't know that Africa is a continent), she's a closet dominionist, or is "being used" by dominionists, etc. If you rationalize by dehumanizing Hillary, Bill, Palin, etc. than you can overcome your objections to, say, throwing out racist charges and what not.

Rationalization. Its how you live with yourself when you know you are doing something that is not really "right". If you believe you are doing something "wrong" for the sake of something bigger that is "right", its only more powerful to compromise. Ya know, like stealing an election to help Obama win.

Good reading! Favorite quote: What could go wrong?
Beyond war, inflation, the end of the technology/productivity wave, and financial collapse, we think the most potent and short-term threat would be societies demanding a more ‘equitable’ share of wealth.
