Oh, come on Historiann. We all know that Hillary, much like the late Rodney Dangerfield, don't get no respect. It's perfectly normal to be upset by this and Obama's effigies but Hillary just had it comin' to her. That's the tone.
Oh, well. Somehow I don't think Hillary is going to sit on her hands for long. I can wait.

Stockholm syndrome
People have lost all perspective and standards of how to treat the "other". The mentality is if "they did this stuff" all these years, it's ok for us to do it.

Or free speech! I work in marketing and was doing a photo search on Getty a few days ago. There was an image on their home page (photos cycle through) of Palin in a little nature set with someone holding a shotgun to her head. ON GETTY!!! To see that image presented as if it were completely normal and purchasable was shocking.
I'm losing my mind in san francisco. I think i'm going to have to go stay in a cabin up north way back in the woods on election night.

That is right. I particularly love all the ones who sent their kids to private schools and avoided the public schools being all blue now. Yeah, right.

I was at my local church and a member of the Pickle family circus was
there with his son doing their comedy act.
The audience hooted and howled when the guy mimed McCain's war injuries. The biggest belly laughs were about how stupid Sarah Palin is and how racist McCain supporters are. The son had traveled across the country befriending conservatives. He was up there absolutely ridiculing people that had been open and trusting with him.
It was an ugly evening in the church.
The one positive thing I've gotten from this whole nightmare is that I see what a hypocrit I was. I see how bigotted I was. Painful.

Voter Index, Charlie Rangel's (upper Manhattan) and Jose Serrano's (Bronx) are the bluest Congressional Districts among those represented.

but whoever it was going after him (the rent thing, and vacation house, etc) is not gonna stop--and Obama/Pelosi/Reid/etc do not value him at all--especially nowadays.
I Was...
...going to do a post on this, but couldn't figure out how to post picture directly from an online newspaper article (a 13-step process, apparently, lol), and refused to download it to my flickr out of protest, and ended up not posting about this.
Anyway, this world has been turned upside down. We've got folks arguing the side issue of whether this is a hate crime or not and historical ethnic intimidation when the heart of this is that this is just plain vile. This is the kind of humor you'd expect from say somewhere in Afghanistan, where they actually do hang women and laugh about it. And, to watch mothers and fathers joking with their children about this and all kinds of other sexist jokes and graphics is just heart-breaking. It's hate; that's all it is, and it can't be sugar-coated. I'm getting tired of the "oh, we're just being irreverent" angle. We're supposed to be better than this. Our side is not supposed to be like this.
How can we reward something like this? It'd be different if these were isolated incidents, but it's been a pattern since the primaries that hasn't just sustained itself, but grown into something totally pervasive.
But, we've always been at war with Eastasia...

It's not that the country isn't ready for a woman in the White House. It's that the country can see the woman in the VP slot isn't ready.
The Dem leadership will, I believe, have to come to grips with its shameful (and shameless) behavior towards Hillary.

This election isn't just a referendum on race, though that's the narrative the M$M is pushing hardest right now. Where the trench warfare can still win victories is on the propositions -- 4 and 8 in California, 2 in Florida, whatever it is in Arizona -- and in (some) down-the-ballot races.
It would be a lot harder to get anything in the way of a Progressive policy past a McCain/Palin administration than an Obama/Biden one, I think, though.

Sarah, Howard Dean, as head of the DNC participated in much
of the attack on Hillary Clinton. He chose Barack Obama as one of the Dean Dozen back in 2004 and has pushed him to where he is now. Dean was critical to Obama's rise.

Threats to not make a fool into a viable candidate.
Effigies or threat of violence against women/children/blacks/latinos/asians/native americans/whites should always be pushed back at.

But Palin is a joke. I hope she never gets near the white house, at least not until she loses her doomsday wish, her view on VP power, and bones up on some history and international affairs.
