You're going to be seeing a lot of this quote soon. It's from Judge Samuel Alito's opinion on the case known as Planned Parenthood v. Casey, in which the 3rd Circuit struck down a Pennsylvania law that included a provision requiring women seeking abortions to notify their spouses.
"The Pennsylvania legislature could have rationally believed that some married women are initially inclined to obtain an abortion without their husbands' knowledge because of perceived problems -- such as economic constraints, future plans, or the husbands' previously expressed opposition -- that may be obviated by discussion prior to the abortion," Alito wrote.
Just meditate on the breathtaking sweep of this statement. Then, if you are a female of the years of fertility, just go get either a divorce or a hysterectomy. If you choose the latter, have your surgeon save the resulting organ and mail it to Judge Alito, with a nice note suggesting that since he wants to tell you what you can do with it you'd just as soon let him take over management directly.
