All these parks fall along portions of the canyon the Prairie Dog Fork of the Red River cut through the Texas Panhandle on its way to the sea.

of stunning landscapes. Texas is one of the few states I’ve never been in (unless you count a stopover at Dallas). Maybe I should schedule a visit some time, before we are back to horses and buggies.

Hey, Lambert? Google up a topo map, and find “Lake MacKenzie”, “Alibates Flint National Monument,” and the parks. Those locations are stacked, like that, in the canyon. ’Course that canyon’s a shade over five hours’ solid drive long, and those are NOT just the highlights.
