Corrente

If you have "no place to go," come here!

Occupy Data Hackathon | Friday March 1st and Saturday March 2nd

Readers, I'm going to go to this event (since it could be right up my alley, what with the maps and timelines I've been creating, and anyhow, it would be great to have something to look forward to when February has finally ended.)

So, maybe we can have a Corrente meetup in New York, if there are any Correntians in the Greater New York area who'd want to do that?

Here's the registration info, and it looks like techies is just what they don't need, so feel free to help out if you can:

We need non-technical people to help us. We the keen insight of people on the ground doing the work, using the systems.

Data projects like these illuminate in ways that statistics can’t. We need to open up our data to shine a light on injustice. We need the data to tell a story that can’t be refuted, dodged, or denied.

Data mining and visualization for the 99 percent!

CUNY Graduate Center on 365 Fifth Ave, room 5409 from 12-6PM.  The building is diagonally across from the NE corner of the ESB.

Dang it to heck! That's just a few days after I close on my new house. I suspect I'll be in Pittsburgh that weekend, tearing out old carpet.
BUT, if you need a place to stay for the night, you are welcome to crash at my townhouse in Hillsborough. I live about an hour from the city. Let me know so I can give you the code to a lockbox.

I might take you up on it for part of the time, just to get together again. The thing is two days, and I'm coming down and returning to Maine, so I might be gone for three and as many as four nights. Can I let you know closer to the event?

Mi casa es su casa, Lambert. Just let me know if you need the house. I will give you the code and the password to the wifi. Just promise to not go through my closets.
