Guns And Ammo Production Maxed Out: “This is a Society Preparing For War”

The following guns and ammo industry report indicates that every major gun and ammunition manufacturer in the country is running at 100% capacity, with many so far behind that they’ve stopped taking new orders altogether.

We are talking about something a whole lot more serious than the occasional black bloc unit smashing windows.

Yeah, all our constitutional rights are under attack, but squandering your scarce resources on guns and ammo is really not going to make things better.

This is not going to end well.

"We" aren't buying it. DHS is:

450 million rounds of pistol ammunition. That's enough to "double-tap" every adult in the country with a few million rounds left over for particularly annoying children. From a single manufacturer, on a single contract - and it's not counting rifle ammunition.

For a little perspective, this is roughly equivalent to the total number of rounds fired by the US Military in the first four years of the Iraq War.

DHS isn't buying all those guns however, nor all that ammo.

I've been contemplating this as well. Hysterical right wing poor white trash on the brink of economic collapse, nursing injured pride and a victimized sense of righteous indignation, with a brief against everyone who doesn't resemble them or disagrees with them, armed to the teeth with military-style assault weapons. A Junker class who led them to this to stoke their hostilities and accumulate public subsidies. A corrupt Wehrmacht that draws from their class and sympathizes with their apocalyptic death culture worldview. A compromised political opposition of Weimar Republicans (D) whose intrigues only confirm the worst suspicions in a game that no one with scruples can hope to overcome. All that's required is a charismatic messianic ideologue who is blind to the consequences of his grotesque actions to cause civil unrest, debase a social movement organized to protest bank bailouts into a Tea Partei, and rally his Volk against the freethinkers, the leftists, the non-Aryans, under the banner of Jesus Christ's annihilating love.

I've been studying rhetorical fallacies lately, and one particularly amusing and new development is called "argumentum ad hitlerium," where the fallacy follows the form of, "Hitler was a vegetarian, therefore all vegetarians are Nazis." It usually appears at the tail end of debate, and usually introduced by someone who is losing an argument badly. So I diagnose the interesting times we live in with a sense of self-circumspection. But that aside, it would appear that enough of the same ingredients in any culture would culminate with a remarkably similar result, whether you call it Bavarian Sauerbraten or Texas Brisket.

Our emphasis on control, on public and private militarization, our belligerence on the world stage, the corruption of our institutions, all indicate preparation for a brief civil war ending in an authoritarian regime, modulated by creepy Edgars, and enforced by righteous goons in pickup trucks flying the stars and bars.

Indeed. And there are distorted echoes all over the political spectrum, too. That's why I keep plugging away at permaculture -- in case the food chain collapses.

So let me see if I have this straight - in the world's greatest manufacturer of arms, the factories are being run to straining point, to sell firearms to a civilian populace, who are incensed about being disarmed...?

Obama's going to do nothing and sell his supporters down the river, as usual.

Personally, I'd be happy resisting gun registration only, since it's just another mechanism of compliance. I support gun licensing, with training, as with a car, and for the same reason: Externalities.

But don't worry, if we can just take guns out of the hands of citizens and leave them only in the hands of security forces, everything will be fine.

(1) Gun culture on a performance basis has shown no capability or willingness to use its vaunted Second Amendment right to resist tyranny whatever.

(2) So if we think in terms of public purpose, that's the only public purpose argument for gun ownership I've ever heard, and it weighs a feather against the increased suicides and other deaths catalyzed by easy access to the most efficient killing machines yet devised, which are costs borne by the public.

And while we're at it:

(3) How about my right not to get shot?

Yes, because the ONLY solution to a populace inundated with weapons is that no one has weapons.

That happens after a war. There are still lots of weapons, but no people anymore to brandish them.
