Corrente Big Apple Meetup, March 1, 7:30PM, Chinatown (please sign up)

[We've got a spot -- not posted, for reasons I assume are obvious -- and I've made reservations. It's not too late to sign up, though! -- lambert]

[I'm going to sticky this because I think a lot of dishes would be fun. New York Correntians, are you out there? Adding: My hidden agenda is to get a reading on the direction of blogging and the blogosphere over the next year or so. I've been blogging for a long, long time (since 2003) and I've never felt disoriented... Until the last few months. Something in the zeitgeist is changing, but I don't know what... Also, I've had some restaurant suggestions, but could use more. --lambert]

A Corrente meetup! Please sign up in comments to this post if you want to come, or send me Corrente mail (private, top menu, third from right. You will need a Corrente account to do that, but our private and spam free internal email system is also a great feature).

I'm arbitrarily picking 7:30PM to give me time to get down from my Occupy Data event at CUNY, which ends at 6:00PM, and give me time to get back to my crash pad in Brooklyn.

And I'm arbitrarily picking Chinatown because (a) I like Chinatown, (b) I like Chinese food, (c) I like cheap, and (d) Chinese restaurants are flexible about big numbers and we can have a lot of dishes if a lot of people come! (Chinatown is marked on the map, but not the location of an actual restaurant.)

I will consult with subject matter experts to find the Chinese restaurant of the moment. Will that work for people? If you are that expert, please use Corrente mail -- private, top menu, third from right -- to get in touch with me (and not email).

We'll also need some sort of cut-off period for sign-ups, because I imagine a reservation might be necessary. How about next Tuesday at 8:00PM? I will send out a confirming Corrente email confirming the date, time, and location shortly after that cut-off.

NOTE Adding, if people don't know it already, that I'm an INTJ. So the social aspect of this event will be extremely challenging for me. Do feel free to get my attention if I am not _{MR SUBLIMINAL You mean "since almost certainly will not be"} making the rounds, doing the politician thing of squeezing your elbow and kissing your baby, etc. In general, Correntians lead very interesting lives, and so -- the INTJ insists I add "within reason" -- I'll be interested and curious about almost anything you have to say. Naturally, my solution will be that "You should blog about that!" but in fact that position often has the great merit of being true!
