Will state plans remain?

My worry - no, my expectation - is that the new federal/corporate health make-over will include some little unadvertised provision that makes all state plans illegal (kind of like what was done to California's effort to control car emissions). In essence, the federal government will mandate that we pay health taxes, oops I mean insurance premiums, directly to corporations. That would cut out the middleman - the government. And we won't have the choice of opting for a state plan - that would reduce corporate income!

I don't think this dude

is pushing for single payer so I don't think it matters much. I believe they want to open up the state employees healthcare (for-profit). While pooling like this would mean less expensive premiums it does NOT make it as inexpensive as single payer.
