Conservative Columnist Cal Thomas: Mosques Must be Monitored

Do not be fooled, amidst all of the election hoopla the fact has remained that the right (wrong) is still totally bat-shit crazy. Conservative columnist Cal Thomas penned in his December 1st column that:

At the very least, all non-Western immigrants to Britain and America should be told prior to their arrival that our intention is to westernize them. They must learn English, study and embrace the history of their host nation and, if they are Muslim, they will be allowed to worship only in existing mosques. No new ones should be built. Existing mosques must be monitored to make sure that hate is not taught and aggressive behavior toward their host countries is not promoted. If such behavior and speech are detected, the mosques should be closed and the imams arrested or deported.

Now, Cal Thomas is not a Christian conservative (though, as with most conservatives, he often sympathizes and sides with them because of the whole "the enemy of my enemy if my friend" business), but to suggest that we monitor a certain group of people because of their background is so crazily anti-Constitution it's not even funny.

Let it be known that this post is not meant as a defense of Islam. It's no less ridiculous than any other organized religion in my book, but that Cal Thomas would be so bold as to call for 'observers' to be placed within side mosque just shows that the conservative movement is far from defeated, and far from running out of ideas of how to piss on the Constitution.

Please, take the time to tmseditors [at] tribune [dot] com">email Cal, or should I say Tribune Media Services, and let him/them know what you think of this. If I was a newspaper editor I'd have never allowed this trash to run and he'd have been cut from my paper's featured columnists.

This whole thing brings back a famous quote by our fearless leader, Dubya:

"They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we." - George W. Bush

You know what George? You're right about that.

Unfortunately, our Congress Critters are into Czars--they want a

Car Czar, so what's to keep them from "working with" the Repubs and NeoCons to create a Mosque Czar?

I almost can't believe either could happen--but one is in the works. To meet the demands of not only BushCo and the Repubs, but many Dems! I hope Sen. Dodd understands manufacturing, marketing, design, technology, etc.etc.etc., and will know how to defend his and the Dems' choice of a Car Czar. Now, who will choose this new czar?? BushCo? And Obama will have to live with that choice? Yikes. Or will Obama choose? Essentially, won't matter, bcz the Dems and new administration will have to live with it, as will the auto makers and auto workers. And our economy.

Don't think that that Repub demands for a czar will prevent them from attacking Dems for interfering in the free market, btw.

And, note, please, there was never even a mention of a Bankster Czar.

Isn't that special?

This proposal by Thomas is so unconstitutional , even unamerican, as to be laughable--except, somehow, the Repubs do find ways to use crises (this time Mombai) to get what they want. As they are using the financial meltdown to go after the auto unions and unions benefits --reallh going after all unions-- to achieve a long, long, long held desire to smash the unions. Reagan got them pretty far on that; now our Dems are helping them.

A political party has to stand for principles; it cannot be about one person or personality. It cannot bend to the will of the opposition party. If that party does not state and support principles, explain those principles, promulgate those principles, fight for those principles, it will not remain as a viable entity.

Axelrod differs from Rove in that Rove actually thought he could use a personality to achieve a strengthened Repub Party--I don't think that was Axelrod's objective. I'm not sure what Axelrod is using the Obama personality to achieve.

What happens when Obama has run his course? What will the Dem Party represent? (And, yes, I kow BO hasn't been sworn in yet--but our Dems are acting as if they are completely rudderless, and have done so for some time in many areas. I will gladly stand corrected on my skepticism. And will hope for change that does some good.)

~~~Naomi Klien has really nailed it, hasn't she, in pointing out how the powerful in our country use any and all crises to try to push their own agenda forward? The Villagers do not favor unions....
Yikes! BushCo chooses the Car Czar! Barney and Nancy "hope"
the new president will not have to remove that person and install his own Car Czar.
Union workers: BOHICA.
Over and over and over.
We must, Must, MUST --to be "competitive"-- drive down workers' wages, benefits, working conditions. Leave them high and dry--or down in the gutter, whichever works for that "competitiveness."
What have our Dems come to? Trying to channel St Ronnie?
Wonder what that does mean for civil liberties, Bill of Rights' rights and such like....
Wonder what Eleanor Roosevelt would be doing were she alive to see this horror show. Not sitting still for this junk governing.
Jawbone, TOTALLY off subject
How did you post end up, here? A mistake? Did you actually read this blog?
But, we've always been at war with Eastasia...
