Jacob Heilbrunn at HuffPo:
Democrats who worry that Obama is selling out to the opposition may have it backwards. His ingenious approach could end up marginalizing the GOP for decades. Tapping Cheney might be going one step too far, but could a post for the Decider himself be far behind?
I asked for a blue pony, but I guess they're on back-order.

Hmmm
Marginalize the GOP by absorbing them into the Democratic party.
What a Brilliant Fucking Idea./snark

And here I thought
we had come to the end of the "black is white, up is down" political landscape.
Silly me.
i generally don't read HuffPo
was that supposed to be snark? i really don't want to clickthru the link, they tend to crash my browser and/or take 10000000 minutes to load.
i guess i've lost my touch when it comes to translating Villagese.
Unfortunately, no, CD
Here is the line right before the part above.
Instead of trying to crush an already enfeebled Republican opposition, Obama is seeking to further weaken it by depriving it of an enemy -- himself.
IE, since Bush empowered the Dems by being so divisive, Obama will disempower the Repubs, by being so inclusive, or something.
Uggh. It's gonna be a long 4 years.

I struggled with that, too
It seemed that the author really loved that Obama is doing reacharounds across the aisle.
"His ingenious approach"
**dry heaves**
I can not tell you how many times I've heard some variation of "just trust him; he's smarter than us" from his fan base in the past few weeks. And, things like "His ingenious approach" are exactly what I've referred to in the past as pathological rationalizations. He could eat a live puppy in the Oval Office and they'd find some way to spin it as "ingenious." Where have all of the "best and brightest" in the blogosphere outsourced their brains to, lately?
But, we've always been at war with Eastasia...
I didn't get the memo....
Last I checked, it was "thoughtful." It's hard to keep up, isn't it?
"Thoughful"
I hear "thoughtful" and "pragmatic" still, too, but from his more base supporters I hear a lot more gushing (i.e. "he's so much smarter than me"), you know the whole "let Jesus take the wheel/he knows me better than I know myself" kind of rationalization.
