Small is beautiful

Congrats to Dustin Pedroia for winning the AL MVP!

I think I speak for the entire universe in saying that when we first saw this kid, we didn't see it coming. Rookie of the Year, Gold Glove, Silver Slugger, MVP. Heart of a lion in that little guy.

Oh, and congrats to another local hero on a special day for him, too!

Congrats to a fine player

He's great, just great! And fully deserves every honor. What a pleasure to watch!

If you don't appreciate this guy, there's...

... something wrong with you. :v)

Seriously, even people who don't like sports can find inspiration from a guy like him who overachieves at that level. You can just imagine that people have told him his whole life that he's undersized, and that you can't possibly get anywhere lunging at the ball like that.

Absolutely

Although I must shout out to Kevin Youkilis and his most wondrous arm. That catch over the heads of the camera persons still makes me grin.

Youk is another great overachiever

In his honor, the Corrente spam filter no longer censors his religious/ethnic background.

Congrats to Pedroia

no doubt. He is an awesome player and a real credit to the game. Plus he is a real source of unwarranted optimism to all us folks with an optimum body weight under 180....

Oh, and congrats to Justin Morneau (2nd after his previous 1st) and Joe Mauer (4th with the most "2nd" votes). For a big guy (who I admit ain't got enough power yet) and a catcher, Mauer has achieved the unprecedented (as in "never done before"). That ain't something they vote ya on either, it's pure hall of fame stuff.

From Wiki:

Mauer became the first catcher in major league history to lead both leagues in batting average and the first American League catcher to win the batting title, finishing with an average of .347.[3] He is also the first American League catcher to win a batting title twice.

Plus, he won his first Gold Glove this year as catcher too. Hmmm, a Gold Glove catcher that wins the American League batting title (and seems like a decent guy to boot), not bad.

The Twins will probably trade him to Boston like they did Ortiz, so you can get him as both an average AND power hitting first baseman.

Thanks for blogging a little baseball, I love it!

BTW, someone else scored Pedroia behind XXXX and Youklis and before Morneau....

For me, I would have scored Mauer before Morneau....

I'm not such a bad guy once you get to know me.
