Cowards at Clear Channel Refuse Vote Vets Ad

Clear Channel Communications strikes again, censoring Iraq veteran Brian McGough's voice in an ad that VoteVets PAID to run during Rush Limbaugh's show: WJNO AM in Palm Beach, Florida refused to air the ad by the war veteran Limbaugh compared to a suicide bomber. The station claims not that the ad was inaccurate or that it posed legal issues, but rather, the ad presented information that “would conflict with the listeners who have chosen to listen to Rush Limbaugh.”

In the ad, McGough says, “Rush Limbaugh called vets like me ‘phony soldiers’ for telling the truth.” He continues:

Rush, the shrapnel I took to my head, was real. … My belief that we are on the wrong course in Iraq, is real. Until you have the guts to call me a phony soldier to my face, stop telling lies about my service.

The Reichwing shut down the Dixie Chicks on the radio.
Now they're denying veterans free speech.

Sinclair Broadcasting, IIRC, tried something like this and was soundly whipped in the stock market for their troubles.
If you hold any or know anyone who holds any Clear Channel stock, now is a great time to divest yourself of this turkey. Tell your friends.

They shouldn't be so concerned about Rush's listeners

Dittoheads don't have the capacity for recognizing cognitive dissonence.

ClearChannel OWNS Rush Limbaugh, bag and baggage.

He's on their stations because he's their product, their guy, their pudgy, pushy, pill-poppin pederast. He's like the ClearChannel "house organ," you should forgive the phrase...

i can understand why Clear

i can understand why Clear Channel refused to air that ad. they do not want to upset the mindless sheep that listen to Rush.

Aaargh!

(Sorta gives a new twist to "the Mighty Wurlitzer"...

Don't sell your media stocks, buy more

Well, okay, "buy more" might be an overstatement; we don't want to feed bad behavior while this is going on. But if you're in the class which owns stocks (preferably directly, via a broker, but what the hell, an IRA at work counts too--you should have a way to find out what position the plan holds in every security they own) that stockholding makes you an owner of the fucking company. It gives you a seat at their table and the right to bang on said table and express your opinion of actions like this with a considerably louder voice than us mere peon listeners can do.

Same tactic works if you hold stock in the companies which advertise, not just on the Limbaugh show directly but at any time of day on the stations which air his audible pustule leakage. Write to those companies, starting out "As a stockholder in your firm I am deeply concerned that the value of my holdings may decline as a result of your choices of advertising venues." Spin the local radio dial, find a different station or even less-loathesome show on the same station and mention it by name in your communication.

Spocko over at Spocko's Brain has been setting a spectacular example for all of us in just what such a campaign can involve. He's fighting a particular low-level but lividly loathesome wingnut, way way down on the VRWC ecosystem from Limbaugh, and even there the battle is ferocious. But if just one person can have that kind of impact....
