Frank Rich in his column about the GOP meltdown in upstate NY's congressional race:
The same Republicans who once deplored Democrats for refusing to let an anti-abortion dissident, Gov. Robert Casey of Pennsylvania, speak at the 1992 Clinton convention now routinely banish any dissenters in their own camp.
Now, that's not a big part of his column, but he links a 1992 NYT opinion piece on the convention without ever noting that it was wrong. Casey was not refused a speaking gig at the convention because of his abortion position, he was refused one because he wouldn't endorse the Democratic nominee. In fact, as Media Matters points out, antiabortion speakers did speak in 1992 and at every democratic convention since (although the link is from 2005), which explains a lot about the backsliding on my rights, but that's another matter.
But it's just so much easier to continue to talk about the fake past as invented by conservatives than either 1) correcting the record; or 2) just leaving it out of the piece. And that's a big part of why we live in the world we live in - Versailles
has replaced actual political history with the GOP created history.
Rich, of course, being the good Versailles
liberal has a long record of going along with the conservative sliming of big name Dems (see, e.g., here).

zombie lies that will not die
search the Daily Howler for Frank Rich sometime. Is a tool and always has been.
Very true
I linked at the end to a Daily Howler series on Rich. I was probably too kind and should've linked to a search of the site and its results.
And your comment has a better title than my post. I'm totally stealing it, hope that's okay.

steal my material
any time you please.
Heh
Frank Rich is a putz. Furthermore, an "anti abortion" Democrat is the Senate Leader. I'm sure he won't let that get in the way of revising history though.
Far be it for people to realize that without the anti abortion Democrats support there would have been no passage of the partial birth bill. Wankers.
I once had to correct Margaret Carlson
I used to read her regularly, and she spouted off the same lie.
I sent her an email, and even got a response thanking me for the correction.
A few more "off" columns eventually turned me off, and then I read what Somerby thought about her, and never looked back.
