Did I not get the memo?
Is there a reason this couldn't have been done earlier?

Yes, there was
He said the delegates should be seated in a way that doesn't affect the outcome. Now that condition has been met and he's the "presumptive" nominee, he can make the request.
Just more of the Audacity of Change.
The money quote...
"Obama clinched the Democratic nomination three days later, and he has been working to win over Clinton's supporters ever since."
You have got to be kiddin' me.

adding insult to injury--
he wasn't man enough to do it when the rules cttee was cheating for him.
Herb, TP
Two posts on the same thing.
Herb, your post has the better riff (IMSHO).
TP, your post is more informative.
Both are needed....

their internal polls must show real probs in FL & MI
--he's not closing the deal with anyone not already onboard, i don't think.
yeah I like your style herb
Ya know it's not like Obama could have handled this any differently...oh wait...
Twelve posts on this topic wouldn't cover the subject.
This primary season is like watching a train crash in slow motion - you know what's going to happen but you can't stop it.
ONce again, Obama's arrogance has blinded his judgement. I could be wrong, maybe the voters of FL and MI will fall for this ridiculous ploy and give Obama at least one of the major states he needs to win in Novmeber.
A craven grab at whatever can get him over the finish line.
Can we have Hillary back now?!
I love this job!
Yes
One of the most strange political movements I'd ever seen here in Michigan was watching Obama supporters arguing against why their votes shouldn't count during the primaries. It was absolutely bizzare.
What was more bizzare was watching the Obama/Edwards folks organizing a stealth campaign days before the Michigan primary, getting Detroit churches to turn out the "uncommitted vote", and having Detroit politicians run radio commercials urging people to vote uncommitted, to try and embarrass Senator Clinton when no one was supposed to be campaigning in the state.
Obama should be absolutely killing, here. All recent polls show him in a statistical dead-heat with McCain.
But, we've always been at war with Eastasia...
That's ok, obummer
My contempt for you will be expressed in November.
