Distress signal

If you’ve got the flag flying today, shouldn’t you be flying it like this?

The rule of law and Constitutional government have been consciously and callously destroyed by a gang of cheapjack cronies, made men, liars, thieves, pissants, and media whores who, though chickenhawks, call themselves conservatives and Christians, and replaced by tyranny. You don’t find that distressing?

Brilliant, Lambert

Absolutely brilliant.

I usually put up one of our seminal American documents on the 4th, but this morning, I just didn’t have the heart for it.

I’m thinking we should incorporate this into the sidebar and keep it waving upside-down until Bush leaves office; maybe do a day countdown?

July the Forth

Actually, I’m thinking when I take my granddaughter on her 18th birthday trip, I may be encouraging her to look for a better country to locate to. In case she wants to have adequate health care from a rational and caring government, it looks like this is a worst case country. And if she needs to work for a living, there are lots better situations than doing three jobs for the price of one, if that. So I’m calling this celebration - the Forth.

The Course Of Human Events

Independence Day offers an opportunity to reflect upon and be thankful for all we have that is good, and renew commitment to the struggle to make things better than they are. “Nature and Nature’s God” notwithstanding, the truth is that all of our freedoms, rights and liberties were seized at gunpoint from those who had suppressed them; securing these rights is a never-ending struggle, expanding them yet a greater challenge. Even with all the shortcomings and inadequacies we currently face, America remains the world’s best and brightest hope for a more equitable and civilized future.

It’s always tempting to see that greener grass on the other side of the fence but after having traveled a good part of the globe I haven’t found anywhere that is a finer place to live, all things considered. We have a damn good country, largely populated by decent people, and I refuse to fall into despair. If we stick together we can make it better, even great in the broadest meaning of the word. Rousting the criminal gang currently holding Executive power is going to be a very satisfying step on that road forward.

Flying the Flag

I decided, in 2001, that I would not fly the flag til the Bushevik fascists were vanquished…
But if I were to fly it, I would fly it, it would be inverted AND at half-staff.
