What Dominionists believe in:
“…Government as ordained by God for the maintenance of law and order, not as a cure-all for the problems of humanity… free-enterprise economics without apology and point out the dangers of Communism, socialism, and liberalism to the well-being of people across the globe …”
Now contrast that with how the Apostles lived in Jerusalem before the arrival of Paul:
Acts II (NIV)
42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.
43 Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles.
44 All the believers were together and had everything in common.
45 Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need.
46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts,
47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
Further, contrast the Dominionist statement with the Preamble to the US Constitution:
We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
Dominionists oppose the Constitution.
I submit to you they pose a clear and present danger to the United States of America, from within. George W. Bush claims to be a United Methodist, but “by their fruits shall ye know them,” and his fruits are those not of a Methodist but a Dominionist, an oligarchic theocrat.
And the quote I used in the headline is from Texas State Representative Debbie Riddle:
Rep. Debbie Riddle, R-Tomball, made clear where she stood on such socialistic notions as public education.
“Where did this idea come from that everybody deserves free education, free medical care, free whatever?” she demanded in a legislative hearing. “It comes from Moscow, from Russia. It comes straight out of the pit of hell. And it’s cleverly disguised as having a tender heart. It’s not a tender heart. It’s ripping the heart out of this country.”
A horse breeder by profession (shades of Brownie!!) this woman got herself elected to the (gerrymandered courtesy of Tom Craddick and Tom DeLay) Texas Legislature.
Thank all gods Texas’ constitution forbids the Lege from sitting more than 100 days every other year.
From the Texas Constitution, in particular Article 7, Section 1: “A general diffusion of knowledge being essential to the preservation of the liberties and rights of the people, it shall be the duty of the Legislature of the State to establish and make suitable provision for the support and maintenance of an efficient system of public free schools.”
