Via Digby, Donna Brazile still has a job, and she's on the teebee!
[Obama's] going to have to put things on the table that perhaps many of us would not like to see a Democratic president put on the table in terms of cutting back on spending, freezing hiring and making some real tough decisions. So, I think he will be constrained by the deficit and also by the fact that we're still in two major wars.
Ah, yes. "Tough decisions." Boy oh boy, does the Village
love them their tough decisions. Especially because those tough decisions never, ever affect the Village in any way. Keep those cocktail wienies coming!
Say, why do you think Donna still has her job?
Could it be that her party Leader likes what she's doing just fine?
Yeah, too bad the Democrats didn't do anything about the war since 2006 (yes, all the candidates, including the one who ran on a speech he gave against it). Otherwise we might not be quite so "constrained." Funny Donna doesn't mention that.
Yeah, too bad Obama worked the phones to pass the Bush + Reid + Pelosi + Obama + Paulson trillion dollar bailout for the big banks -- $70 billion of which is going to go to pay salaries and bonuses to those same bankers. Yeah, if we could claw that $70 billion back, we might not be quite so "constrained." Funny Donna doesn't mention that.
NOTE Hey, how about we give up on the whole empire bit? That'd save us a boatload and some lives, too. No? Off the table? Lacks complexity, subtlety, and nuance?

And Jon Jesus Meacham warns Obama that this is a center-right
country.
It's a good thing that the Democrats didn't seize their obvious, palpable advantages in public opinion this year to freshen the Reagan-stale air. http://www.newsweek.com/id/164656/page/1
I think she still has her job because she's a piece of shit.
But that's just me.

So, how many more months do we want to give Dean...
...as DNC chair?
But, we've always been at war with Eastasia...
As many months as Obama
wants him to have as DNC chair. Same for Donna Bee and her job.
One question
L: Say, why do you think Donna still has her job?
What job is that, exactly?
[For the record, I loath Donna Brazil.]
Which should read...
"Say, why do you think Donna still has so much influence within the DNC?" She has been given more string than just about any other DNC member to make statements on behalf of the party.
But, we've always been at war with Eastasia...
Is she one of the 100?
To get vetted?
I have a solution to this:
So, I think he will be constrained by the deficit and also by the fact that we’re still in two major wars.
Guess what it is.
It's hard to see that we'll be better off under either of the poor choices.
Nice going, "dems."
DamonMI, are you suggesting Dean is out soon? Why?
Didn't he pull the coup off? Didn't he vanquish Hillary, push Obama to the top along with the help of the MSM, racist undertones and sexism? I don't suspect they'd want to get rid of such a successful minion. I'm wondering if you're suggesting the Bonna Drazil has the job. Oh, my... I never thought of that. What a horror.
I love this job!
I love this job!
That's Exactly What I'm suggesting, Elixir.
As others have said, DNC chairs usually change with incoming presidents, and Obama has already gotten as much as he needs out of Dean.
Yes, I was suggesting that Donna has positioned herself quite well to be DNC chair. Chairwoman Brazile is easily the most logical choice for a President Obama.
But, we've always been at war with Eastasia...

One of the most telling facts about the Obama's constituency outside of African Americans (whose support needs no explanation) is that it is a coalition of people who need or demand the least amount of social benefit from our government. New winning presidents usually put someone in charge of their
party appartus who is totally loyal. Dean may be that person, or Obama (Axelrod?) may have someone else in mind.
Dean got in partly bcz Kerry lost.
I'm wondering if the DNC HQ will remain in Chicago...any thoughts on that? And, really, WHY did it get "moved" to Chicago? Still makes no actual sense to me. Unless he intends to leave it there. Which is strange given DC is where governing is, well, done....
Dean's gone no matter what after the election--
nobody stays in that position long, and Brazile's wanted it for ages and ages.
Amberglow @ 12:19--You've just ruined my day.
Well, ruined it a bit more with that tidbit.
it should get her off CNN, so that's something good--
at least.
McAuliffe is the only recent one to last more than 2 yrs--

and Dean's been it since 05.
Maybe Abe Froman should be put in charge

Good thing we have the demonization of McCain and Palin
to keep us busy. Otherwise, you know, we might have to actually see what Obama is doing to the Democratic Party and give pause to the GOPers "joining" (not taking over, no, not that) the Democratic Party. When you are deathly afraid of the other side, your own side can pillage and plunder to your thundrous applause. Sometimes, you even make stuff up and try to pass it on as fact and get all angry when folks call you out. Fear is a hell of a drug! That and blind Party loyalty.
Only tyrants rig elections.
Dean's 50-state strategy was valuable during '06
and I remain convinced that the "scream" campaign was designed to give Rove a softer target in the Presidential elections. The GOP loves skillet shots.
