For the non-insiders, that's a Photoshopped Young Ezra taking a piggyback ride on Obama's shoulders. As Supreme Custodian of the Secret Knowledge of what the "public plan" might actually turn out to be, Hamsher apparently took exception to something Ezra wrote about it.

Let the "progressive" finger-pointing and blame-shifting begin! Thank The God(ess)(e)(s) Of Your Choice, If Any, that we're a blog that everybody hates and nobody reads, or else we might get caught in the crossfire...

How's the New Reality going to be rationalized?

What will those who notice it do?

My suggestion left in comments (lightly edited):

We are not considered important enough (no repeated $2K or more checks to the DNC, state parties, individual Dems), so we are getting screwed. If this happens with the desperately needed health CARE reform, and becomes what Obama called it in his prime time press conference last week, “health INSURANCE reform,” then people die. Screwed to the point of death: There oughta be a law.

I suggest we pick a date for a national resignation from the Democratic Party, now the Formerly Known as Democratic Party, per lambert strether at Correntewire.com…or, for more punch, the FKD Party.

One day –or, to accommodate demands of work and real life, one week– when disillusioned, disappointed, and under the bus Dems go to their local voter registration sites and de-register as Dems and register as Independents or something to the left that’s doable.

Onesy, twosies don’t get noticed, at least not until numbers pile up: A day or week of many people leaving the FKD Party just might get their attention. Well, unless they think their corporate overlords can buy them enough votes to stay in office....

What think you all?

If Dems screw us over on this, they're not worth supporting. Period.

One nice thing about having large majorities in the House and Senate is that finally I will feel perfectly comfortable rooting for members of the wanker caucus to lose their seats. In 2010 voters will chuck out incumbents if the economy sucks and they don't perceive they've been given what they were promised (health care). The "center" on health care involves giving people affordable quality health care, it does not involve preserving the obscene profits of the corrupt health insurance industry. If Democrats screw this up, those in Republican-leaning districts will lose their seats and I'll be cheering on every bad Democrat loss.
