On Ed Schultz’s show (with backup Hillary-basher Norman Goldman sitting in), a young caller described his horror story about having to choose between $50,000 in debt or dying from a burst appendix. He chose the debt, and now he’s choosing a candidate.
The caller correctly surmised that McCain wouldn’t help someone in his situation, but then he compared the Dems… and went off on a tangent about Hillary dismissing the importance of rhetoric.
Meanwhile, in a reality certain to be unexplored by any Air America host, Hillary talks about the only plan by a major candidate to provide Universal Healthcare.
In an extensive interview with the NYT, Clinton talks health care. She “said she would like to cap health insurance premiums at 5 percent to 10 percent of income. The average cost of a family policy bought by an individual in 2006 and 2007 was $5,799, or 10 percent of the median family income of $58,526, according to America’s Health Insurance Plans, a trade group. Some policies cost up to $9,201, or 16 percent of median income.”
The call was sandwiched between a litany of untruths about the K-K-Klantons.
Boy, the joke’s on me for buying a longterm XM Radio contract specifically because I was excited to hear liberal radio every day. Nice trick, guys!

Front page
Aaaah Ed Schultz
One of the liberal radio talk show hosts I can no longer listen to, along with Randi Rhodes and Stephanie Miller.
I am just curious
How do you suppose those shows would be able to pivot if Hillary should win the nomination?
I Gave Up on Schultz
when he had an entire hour on devoted to the greatness of ethanol. Now maybe ethanol is great, but I’d like to hear that from someone other than the ethanol industry’s spokesman.
He is our Rush Limbaugh, and, no, I don’t consider that a compliment.
Rachel Maddow
is the only one left I listen to. And Thom Hartmann, when I’m in the car before lunch. Schultz, I dumped long ago; he doesn’t really know the issues, yet blathers on as if he does, and gives misinformation a lot of the time. I protested the replacement of Marc Maron with Miller and I still think she’s a ditz. Lately, after listening to her and her crew spew every debunked rumor about Hillary they could find, I finally changed the channel. I’m going to send her, my radio station and her sponsors a letter telling them why she’s no longer listenable. And it’s not just about the primaries, either.
The sound of silence
I’m over all of them. My house is now quiet. It’s actually nice because it was that or my blood pressure was going so high that I thought I would stroke out.
They live in a bubble, and are afraid to disagree with their media buds. You know, because they have such a great track record of being proven correct.
Rachel Maddow? Are you kidding?
Have you seen her on MSNBC? She’s not even pretending to be impartial, she’s 100% “Obama can do no wrong”.
Don't watch the tv talking heads
Though Rachel did say on her radio show that although she’s not told what to say when she comes on, she never gets to talk about something she wants to talk about, which is the war. Unfortunately, since the primary is big biz right now, that’s all they want her to come on the shows for. And if you want to get a wider audience, you have to take what you can get.
And on her radio show, she’s very fair about both candidates. In fact, on the radio, she doesn’t talk about the primary all that much, and when she does, it’s about process, not who said what today. She’s also hoping to get her own show, which she should have done when the tucker carlson dick was kicked off. I don’t know what she’s said on TV, and really, I don’t care all that much. Nothing anyone says on those “news” channels is the truth. It’s not worth the headache.
she is good at blatantly telling us all why the media is
doing specific things in favor of certain candidates and stuff like that and focusing on one thing instead of another—but not good when it’s the negativity towards Hillary alone. She also tries to rein in Olbermann sometimes, i think.
He’s become unwatchable for the most part—i want to remind him that O’Reilly is his public enemy #1, not the Clintons.
wasabi, they don't have to--they've always trashed the Clintons
and will just continue to do so.
I can't believe I renewed
my Air America ’premium’ membership in February :( I’m such an idiot.
Rachel’s still great on the radio, but her new 3rd hour of call-in with David Bender is brutal. For e.g. (1) one of Bender’s first guests was Lord Kos himself, (2) Bender pleaded with the audience to send Olberbama letters of support after his spittle-filled tirade against Sen. Clinton, (3) perpetuated the meme that she is bought out by lobbyists and the likes of Citibank (duh…they *both* are!). It’s terrible.
I never liked Stephanie Miller and I stopped listening to Randi two years ago (she was very rude to callers, IMHO). But Sam Seder? He’s the one host I’ve listened to since the very beginning of AAR. I’m crushed that he would repeat things like Kos’ allegations about Sen. Clinton darkening Sen. Obama’s face in ads, etc. He even refers to her as ’Clieberman’ sometimes.
The Young Turks is terrible. I was stupid enough to buy a membership with them when they left AAR. I love it when they have Wes Clark Jr on the show, but it’s unbearable when it’s just Cenk. I wouldn’t mind the one-sidedness so much, except that Cenk is constantly YELLING in my ear (podcast) about what a LIAR Sen. Clinton is and how she is trying to STEAL the nomination. I think he nearly blew out my eardrums, last week. Uggggh.
And the whole reason I got into AAR in the first place was to hear about issues, not candidates. Not cheerleading. That’s why Rachel Maddow is still worth listening to, sans Bender. Even though she clearly tilts toward Sen. Obama, she still spends most of her show discussing Iraq, Afghanistan and all the outrageous stuff that’s happening in the world. Still too much primary crap on her show, but then again: she’s no Amy Goodman, eh?
Democracy Now is still teh awesome, most of the time ;)
Cheers,
GDK
good one
I zzsssee noting. Hooooogan!
I'll always listen to Rachael
whenever I can. Unfortunately my subscription has lapsed to XM. I know she is an Obama supporter, but she rarely has tirades about the Evil Bitch Who Just Won’t Quit. She’s smart and entertaining and I do so enjoy when she can get a dig in at the menfolk on MSNBC when they make an obviously clueless sesist statement.
A constant progressive female voice
Amy Goodman. No XM subscription required.
Watching Rachel
on MSNBC has been a disappointment to me, even before the split in the Dem party. It, I mean He has sooo pandered to the hate of one starlet or another that I tuned that channel out, but prior to that, she had the gaul (sp) to parcipitate. Frankly, I don’t like beating up on someone to please the ’GUYS’, which is what I think she is doing to be ’IN’. We’ve all seen this kind of behavior before.
The exception to the rulers.
I love Amy Goodman. I’m sure everyone knows this already, but she was damn near killed in East Timor by the Indonesian army, reporting on a massacre. This is quite a contrast to today’s media stars and starlets.
