Film at 11: Irony not dead

WKJM calls out superciliati. It's actually a fascinatingly Neo-Broderite reaction:

And Obama has begun, if fitfully and very imperfectly to many of his supporters, to steer the ship of state in a different direction. If that seems like a meager accomplishment to many of the usual Washington types it's a profound reflection of their own enablement of the Bush era and how compromised they are by it, how much they perpetuated the belief that it was 'normal history' rather than dark aberration.

"Washington types"? Anybody who's looked to the Obama administration for help on housing, health care, or jobs isn't a "usual Washington type"; those guys all have housing, health care, and jobs. And anybody who's looked to the Obama administration for financial reform (Simon Johnson, Joseph Stiglitz) or the restoration of Constitutional government (Glenn Greenwald) isn't a "usual Washington type" either, except insofar as DFHs are that.

In fact, its the neo-Broderite WKJM who's the usual Washington type here, simultaneously claiming to speak for those outside Versailles while servicing the current occupant of the siege royale. And old game.

Good reading! Favorite quote: What could go wrong?
Beyond war, inflation, the end of the technology/productivity wave, and financial collapse, we think the most potent and short-term threat would be societies demanding a more ‘equitable’ share of wealth.
