Pravda
on the Potomac's David Ignatius:
Barack Obama's aides like to tell the story about his reaction to the monotonous, self-important speeches at his first session of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in 2005. After hearing his colleagues drone on, Obama passed to a staff member a note that read: "SHOOT. ME. NOW."
What, no manufactured outrage?
Yeah, Shoot me now. Ha ha! Teh funny!

Hm
Throwing Joe Biden under the bus?
That is one heckuva post, Lambert.
What about that story is note-worthy? I mean, think about it. It's 2005 and Obama is no one special. How does the fact that he passed a note saying "Shoot. Me. Now" become a story? What is in the story that makes it worth the retelling? Or is just that he did something cute by using internet punctuation? I don't get how this is a story that gets retold. What do listeners do in response?
The culture of cuteness around this guy is as bad as the one around Bush.

Often, the subject line will give a clue
Links in the body often help, as well. Enjoy! Oh, and the incident was 2005, but the article was today. I don't know if you're familiar with the term "media critique"?

I wonder
I wonder how many more times they are going to recycle this old story? This was one of the stories they ran when he picked Biden. Ooo, ooo. Now, I want his aides to tell a funny reaction he had to his Secretary of State-designate! I fear in that case, though, he would have probably just said "SHOOT. HER. NOW."
But, we've always been at war with Eastasia...
I wonder if it crossed his mind
that others may feel the same way whenever he has opened his mouth?
