George Felix Allen: "Honey, I've changed!"

felix After Republican Presidential hopeful George Felix Allen called one of his constituents a monkey, he apologized. "Honey, I've changed!" Yeah, right:

Allen has been accused of racial insensitivity before. He wore a Confederate flag pin in his high school yearbook photo, used to keep a Confederate flag in his living room, a noose in his law office and a picture of Confederate troops in his governor's office, but has said he has grown since then.

No, no, he's just poking a little gentle fun at the press, see?

He didn't mean noose, he meant news! See? It's a pun! Just like "Macaca" is just a "mashup" for "Mohawk". Nothing to do with anything as "insensitive" as lynchings (let alone the Turner Diaries). Whassatter with you liberals, can't you take a joke?

NOTE Gosh, funny how all this great detail, which might have helped readers judge the sincerity of Allen's apology, was buried in paragraph 16, at the very end of the story.
