As in "http://goofball.nytimes-se.com/." Lots of favorites to savor, but this is my favorite:
President Barack Obama has called for swift passage of his administration’s Safeguards for a New Economy (S.A.N.E.) bill. The omnibus economic package includes a federal maximum wage, mandatory "True Cost Accounting," a phased withdrawal from complex financial instruments, and other measures intended to improve life for ordinary Americans.
"A phased withdrawal from complex financial instruments"... I love it! They call it an investment vehicle because...
... it's designed to drive off with your money!
Thanks, I'll be here all week!

Please help cure my ignorance
What's a maximum federal wage? (I know what minimum wage is...).
You don’t know me, son. So let me explain this to you once: If I ever kill you, you’ll be awake, you’ll be facing me, and you’ll be armed.

my answer got held up--
lambert? sarah? can you post it?
like salary caps for sports people--
but how i know it is that it's that a boss can only make a certain multiple of their lowest-paid or average-salaried workers-- so if 20k is lowest salary, a figure 100x that or less (or something) would be the maximum salary allowed. It means that no boss can make 500 million a year while the workers get only 7 bucks a hour--that they are connected.
i think one of the scandanavian countries has it as law--or used to have it.
amberglow, I can't find it -- what was subject line? N/T

i think it
got held up bec i used the word s*cial*st in the body of it--can you search? otherwise i'll retype it, i guess.
the headline was something like "It's that the bosses..."
also--
i can never post on my own religion or anything that has the words for my religion in it anywhere--it's beyond sucky.
can you guys fix that? seriously.
use an abbreviation
J, Js, Jsh. Try to use them in an obvious context, whether within the thread from preceeding comments or early in your own comment or post. Some systems, don't know this one, will allow Jw, Jws, Jwsh, even better. Sent at 3:34 PST; catch me if you can, FilterMan.
Some filters will also allow the word with reversed letters or with HTML function on/off commands inserted, some will not, but regardless the one or two letter abbreviations are faster to type.
that's no good when the link
itself has the word or some variation in it.
and it's not right that Christian and other religions don't have the same block on them.
why is mine treated so differently?
protection from hate
massive amount of anti-Jw material being spammed all over the internet, awful stuff, plus random idiot commentors looking to vent and condemn driven from their irrational self-loathing.
Doesn't happen with the same level to Christians in this country, being a Christian Nation and all, and never to Buddhists cause we all know they're all cool and nobody even knows what a Hindu is. Anti-Islam screeds have taken off, but not with the malignant content of the worst aimed at Js. The ADL isn't an anachronism.
Maybe you'd like to write in the first person; your feelings, your experiences, your thoughts. An authentic voice is always interesting, and no links required.
why should haters be privileged
and others restricted?
it's like net filters that block words like "breast" and the result is that people can't even get good info on cancer or many other things.
there are moderators here--plenty of them.
There are not plenty of moderators
When the new site comes up, I can set up groups of people with privileges to do stuff, so contributors may be able to take more of a role in doing this work, if they like. Until then, this is the best compromise in my view -- and it's mostly my time that's being allocated.

"there are moderators here"
Yah, get to work you lazy sluts! For what you're being paid...oh, wait.
Seriously. The filter is what it is. Deal with it, find a way around it so you can say what it is you have to say; you are who needs to change, not the filter. And don't expect other people to do much more than I've just done, two simple suggestions that would lead to a positive outcome. Maybe not exactly what you want, but a positive outcome none the less and an improvement over what you have now which is nothing.
Perhaps, as a final alternative, you could set up your own blog with its own filter and write as you please. Links to your blog would be dandy here, surely, if you include some introduction and a little verbage in the comment; give your audience a reason to click, as it were.
Oh, and; the haters are in no way being given a privilege. Hard as it may be to understand, being excluded from my company - as the filter does to them here - is a punishment.
But that is all just my opinion.
jewish
.
hunh. you're right.
i never noticed that before. obviously i don't post about teh joooooooos! [or soshialists] enough. good thing i'm an atheist and [only partially-domesticated] anarchist.
It's also sucky...
... when loons start posting anti-J*w rants. It has happened, and we just don't have hours to clean out the spam, which is what it used to take, back in the beginning.
It does suck, it's just that all the other alternatives suck worse.

religion comes up here a lot--
esp lately, with prop8 and the election and the ongoing erosion of the wall bet church and state.
you might as well put "gay" on the filter too--far more people are anti-gay than anti-my religion--online and off.
It's your site and you can do as you like--i'm registering a complaint, and i wish you understood that my religion is not protected or helped in any way--nor is stopping prejudice--when you selectively censor and restrict certain topics and words that prevent open discussion of things--that come up here anyway.
It makes what haters might possibly say more important than what people here say--because people are not even allowed to mention a word nor link to certain sites.
It perpetuates inequality and has the result of reaffirming "otherness" and separateness (and reaffirms the normalcy of every other religion) -- which is how it used to be with homosexuality and other groups not of the majority.
It's closet-ing. It forcibly renders millions of people literally unspeakable.
that's it.

i'd rather my religion not be unspeakable, but
if that's what it takes, fine.
pb2.0 ought to be able
pb2.0 ought to be able allow for [ahem, falling into the word-of-the-day] vetted commenters to talk freely about their own religions. surely there's some way to make a list of people who don't have to
run the gauntletget thrown into the moderation queue. There is "some way"
... but on this version there's no way to do that without investing time writing a module that I shortly won't have to use anyhow.
It's not a PB 2.0 issue; rather, it's "a simple matter of programming."

if we (or i or some) could have it on the new
version, i'd be very grateful.
it's very important to me--and i hope to others too, or at least that they can understand my unhappiness about it.
