Apparently, today is the day! Telco Blutos everywhere can stop shifting their sweaty fat asses in their executive chairs at the idea they might actually be held accountable for lawbreaking.
And in a not unrelated development:
The percentage of voters who give Congress good or excellent ratings has fallen to single digits for the first time in Rasmussen Reports tracking history. This month, just 9% say Congress is doing a good or excellent job. Most voters (52%) say Congress is doing a poor job, which ties the record high in that dubious category.
Harry, Nancy, nice work. You suck. Fuck you.
NOTE Oh, Obama? You suck, too, but even worse than the others, because you deluded some naive people into having higher hopes of you (cf Mark 9:42). Fuck you, too, but sideways. I guess I'll have to change my sig:
[ ] Very tepidly voting for Obama [ ] ?????. [ ] Any mullah-sucking billionaire-teabagging torture-loving pus-encrusted spawn of Cthulhu, bless his (R) heart.
No boxes to check, nowhere, at least at the top of the ticket.
UPDATE Harry, Nancy, Obama -- Did I mention that you suck?

WOW!
That is indeed quite a development... the change in your signature, that is.
Oh yeah, the other stuff too. I will curious to see the reactions to the Big Cave In at the Big Blogz.

Negotiation
I can't help but imagine what things would be like if so many of us didn't roll-over and say we'd vote for Obama right off the bat. His path to the nomination was a farce, we all knew it and ObamaCo knew we knew. Letting him get away with that only empowered him and his allies to further abuse us and the system.
exactly--and he's certainly not listening to voters now--
unless they're rightwing religious folks and/or Republicans, of course.
Welcome to the club!
We always knew you were with us in your heart.
Policy not party!
Bingamen Amendment Failed
according to Jeralyn. I think it was nice of Congress to make clear that the main purpose of the legislation is to cover up Administration (and Gang of Eight?) crimes. Nicely done, Democrats. I'm sure the GOP will do the same for you. Maybe not now, but after you start your investigation into Chris Dodd's mortgage then they will definitely have your back.
I suppose I should be listening on C-SPAN...
... but why bother?

Demand Money Back
I think one thing that might have an effect is if Obama supporters started calling the DNC and the Obama campaign demanding their money back. They might not get it, but a big push would definitely send a message. And the DNC did reportedly give money back to disgruntled Hillary supporters so there may be a precedent.
Their hubris has convinced them that voters will fall in line (which they may or may not be right about), but they are obsessed with money. Hurt them in the wallet and they just might pay attention. That goes for Harry and Nancy as much as Barack. The Democrats love Obama because of his fundraising, if that takes a hit over this, then that's a huge problem for them. The problem for us is that there are a significant number of enablers out there who will defend Obama no matter what he and the party do. Breaking through that to try to influence them will be difficult.
Bonus points...
... if you can figure out a way to make the process getting your money back tax deductible. Legal expenses of some sort? Chasing fraud?

Clinton - No, Obama - Aye
on both cloture and the final bill.
Of course, this is still all Hillary's fault!
She can hardly be said to have led on this issue (not in a position to now, but not sure she would've even if she were), but I'm still gratified to see her vote. I think I'll send her a few bucks to help her stay independent, I don't want her to become like the party itself and need Obama financially. I've recently decided to try to spread my meager donations to various other power bases in the Dem Party that are unlikely to be assimilated. By her vote today, she showed she's still one of those bases.
Got a link on that?
Last I checked on Greenwald, they'd both voted the right way, but I could be confused by the ins and outs of the legislative process....
UPDATE Jeralyn,naturally.

Link On Votes
Here.
They both voted the right way on the amendments, which all failed.
Not a surprise, Obama said in his statement that he supported the bill and he did.
It appeared there was some confusion over Clinton's cloture vote, that she may originally have voted for cloture and changed her vote. Not sure what the confusion was, but she voted no on cloture as well as the bill.
So, on the votes
Obama wrong on cloture and the vote, Hillary right on cloture and the vote.
Yes?

Yes, lambert, Clinton Right, Obama Wrong
Clinton initially voted for cloture and changed her vote. Not clear why. Contrary to some negative speculation, I don't think she was waiting to see if they would have the votes for cloture because it was obvious from this morning's votes that they would.
But to be clear - Clinton voted against cloture and against the bill. Obama voted for both.
Does anyone need more proof of how unresponsive
and just as bad a president he'll be?
Does anyone still believe he believes in our rights and Constitution, which he'll be swearing to uphold if elected at all?
Does anyone believe he's in any way honest and trustworthy, or has he all along been saying and doing anything that'll work at the time--just as he accused Clinton of doing?
He's far far worse than Hillary, and i shudder to think what he'll do -- or not do -- in office.
i'm happy about (and relieved by) the way Hillary voted...
...as for Obama... i think i lost my last shred of respect for this man today.
constitutional scholar? "the most liberal Senator"?? puh-leez. what a travesty.
as someone commented on TalkLeft... "this candidate makes me really nervous... Really nervous. I don't want to be bamboozled or okie-dokied or tricked."
