For a brief moment yesterday, Scooter Libby was not a former White House aide on trial for perjury. He was an orphan in need of a loving home.
"He's been under my protection for the last month; now I'm entrusting him to you," defense lawyer Ted Wells told the puzzled jurors.
His voice breaking, the $700-an-hour lawyer pleaded: "Give him back! Give him back to me!"
Wells sobbed loudly and went back to his chair, where he sat staring at the floor and emitting the occasional sniffle.
If I was billing $700 an hour, I wouldn't be crying, I can tell you that. Not even the occasional sniffle. And I love it that Wells used PowerPoint slides to appeal to the jury! Now there's a Beltway insider!
But suppose for a moment that Wells was sincere?
What on earth could he be crying about?

in the sense that when scooter goes to the slammer, his billing days are over, for this gravy train at least. no, that can't be- there will be rounds of appeals and other shenannigans to bill for, long into the future. so i guess that's why he's worth 700/hr. he's being paid to act, and so he does, tears and all.
If it doesn't work out...
... Wells is going to have to leave Libby at Paddington Station, with a note that says "Please take care of this perjuring traitor."

Legislation From the Trial
H.R. 501 is great bill for CIA employees. It is a new form of retirement. The CIA employees can not only use the psychiatric benefets toward the end for medals and money, but can retire early with even more benefits. Most federal employees will be using H.R. 501
The Whistle blower law evolved out of the five year intelligence ban/protection act/ban on serving on committees after being subpeoned out of these laws- No Fear Legislation is actually an old saying from DEA, before they became part of the intelligence community. This will probably make them far less effective.
Department of Peace has no intelligence ban and a lifetime ban is needed like the five year ban in PC.
Repealing the SSA will make some federal employees(e.g. PC) non federal employees, so is the repeal good for all federal employees?
